Walk Up Campsites In Nebraska

My wife and I bought a camper this past Christmas.  We really enjoy it (she enjoys it A LOT more as long as we have dedicated water hookups). 

 

We have been able to reserve sites throughout the Spring and Summer just because it's random weekends or middle of the week and Mahoney usually has some site available.

 

However, we are thinking about Labor Day weekend.  We know we are way to late to reserve spots, they're all booked.  Not surprised.

 

But my question is, what are the odds of getting a "walk up" site the Friday night or Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend?  Will I have to go out on the Wednesday before and claim a spot for 6 nights?  Strategies? Locations? We live in West Omaha and would prefer to stay within 100 miles since it would just be for a couple nights...
