Who should our next HC be?

Frost had no winning seasons as a p5 HC.

Leipold and Frost aren't any the same universe as far as experience leading college football programs.  I know Frost had some impressive experience as a young assistant coach, and his quick work at UCF.  But, the experience that Leipold has had being a successful HEAD COACH at numerous college programs is way more impressive than what Frost had done before coming to NU.

Yes, I would not compare the 2.  All of Huskerland must have been smoking some strong stuff because we were on a 'collective high' when we settled on hiring a G5 coach with one winning season.

I don't think we were all that crazy (I do know some people were against the Frost hire), we just thought that Frost's experience was enough, and there is a trend for fans to want the "opposite" of what the previous coach was.  Riley was the old coach, with a lot of experience, and some success doing things his way for a long time.  We thought Frost was the young hot-shot who had quick success at a few stops, and we were willing to risk his lack of overall head coaching experience because he was "one of our own".  Unfortunately, NU and NU fans were wrong.  It happens all the time.

I believe as far as having trust in Trev to make the right hire.  In my mind, it really is having trust in the firm doing the work.  They have proven to be very effective at their job.  That is what is giving me the most hope.  Nebraska hasn't had a true coaching search yet.  This is the first time it has happened.  This means everyone is going off of old past patterns and pulling names out of their a$$ based on that.

It would not shock me one bit that it was a Fickell or Kiffen.  I go back to the USC hire last year.  That came out of nowhere, and there were a lot of talks that Lincoln's wife didn't want to move either. (or maybe I'm imagining that???)

So, let's sit back and enjoy the fact that we have actual professionals conducting this coaching search, and then if the results don't speak for themselves then we can break out the pitchforks and torches.

Apparently when I said I wanted a full time buffet of dry aged steak, shrimp, lobster, and entire office full of bourbon & exotic dancers it was distasteful and something the university could not accept. I also asked if we could give recruits chargers full of a million in cash. Bulletproof strategy too. After a prompt stew in Trev’s office and being escorted out I got into a fight with a security guard…RKOed thar mfer and am now banned on all university property. Thanks a lot, Trev. Therefore, I will not be accepting the job.

So how much of a raise are you getting at your fluffer job?

Jim Tressel also had no winning seasons as a P5 coach when he was hired at Ohio State.  Ohio State was in a much better position than we currently are.  I'm not sure why it is so important to have P5 success in order to coach at Nebraska.  How does a 60-26 record at a P5 school sound over seven years and three top ten finishes?  It sounded really good to Michigan, so they hired him.  He went 15-22 over three seasons, and never finished a season ranked.

Hiring a coach is a crapshoot.  Remember when David Shaw was all the buzz?  His last four years record at Stanford is very comparable to ours.  We have tried almost every angle.  We have hired a NFL coach who led his team to a Super Bowl.  Then, we hired one of the best DC's.  Then, we hired a program builder.  Finally, we hired the coach who was all the buzz.  I don't envy Trev. in this decision.

I know. I wasn't comparing the two. That was just the end of a string of posts I started by making the mistake of responding to someone freaking out over leipold being a possible hire. I think he has a good resume. The questions I have can't be answered until a hire is made.
