Threads like this get boring? What gets boring to me is watching a lame duck coach circle the drain. I get bored of having to laugh at the bad things that happen to this team because there is no hope of actually being respectable at this point. I am sitting here wondering if we could possibly lose to GA Southern on Saturday, and I am failing in my efforts to convince myself that it isn't out of the realm of possibilities. THAT is what is boring. A new coach would actually be interesting versus trying to decide if I should even bother paying attention to Nebraska football anymore if Frost is kept. 1 Quote Link to comment
84HuskerLaw
About $15-20 million reasons why frost and staff could stay for 2023 too. That staff has a pretty penny or two attached as well. I believe most of them have another year on their contracts. Very few have mentioned that this could have been a two year package. It sounds like forever if the seasons tanks. We will know a lot more in about 11 days imo. 2 wins and then we will see where it goes. 2 losses and the end is near. Nothing wrong with thinking ahead. You always have to be planning ahead - it’s all about the clear trends and recent performance. I’m as anxious as anybody because I really started to think the changes could reverse the trend. But things are not where I hoped they could be. I was not expecting a 9 or 10 win miracle but I didn’t believe 2-10 was a real possibility. It is right now. We may find GA So is about as much to handle as ND. I feel Chubba could take over if CT goes down or struggles mightily. But the fundamentals (blocking and tackling) remain very troubling, even vs lesser foes. The schedule difficulty escalates big time after Saturday. No more VERY winnable games after that. The team must gel and find a way to play 4 solid quarters. It’s been 5 years since a full 4 qtrs have been played by Bug Red frankly. About 6 practices and one game to ‘fix’ a lot of issues. Urgency is getting really urgent. Quote Link to comment
big_red_husker_01
Frost went 13-0 in 2017 at UCF then the team he built went 12-1 in 2018 2 Quote Link to comment

They have girls playing at high school and club level and Nebraska is a dream school — they wish their kids were good enough to go to Lincoln. Kids with no ties to Nebraska are buying Nebraska swag. California sports bar had the Nebraska/Wisconsin volleyball game on their big screen last December. Nothing to sneeze at. I'm guessing Lady Huskers are pulling in more NIL coin than the guys at this point. Not even really a half joke: Volleyball's been the most successful money sport on campus for the last 20 years. It deserves all the shine and then some. 2 Quote Link to comment

Their QB was here last year - he wasn't intimidated last year either (after 8 years of this crappy play - no one is intimidated. They see this as their opportunity to get a win at Memorial Stadium before Nebraska finally figures it out. GA Southern just put up a lot of passing yards in their game which they won handedly. Nelson's and Mathis sacks on Saturday withstanding, isn't enough evidence that we can consistently pressure the QB. 2 Quote Link to comment

Hey agree with everything. I guess, tired of is better word. I think I am just in a waiting more for the end of the season. No way he is kept with the current trajectory. 1 Quote Link to comment

Honestly that's the only issue I would have if it happened. I thought frost should have been gone last year but I can't get too upset about how Alberts handled it. I mean he went middle of the road and there were probably more reasons than we know. Trev was convinced to have Scott remain. It was a compromise. Of coarse it’s been said that deciding between two colors of shoes and agreeing to wear one of each is compromising which ultimately ends up looking rather silly. Personally I wasn’t opposed with an additional year as long as significant changes were implemented. Only the buyout could’ve been reduced still to around $3 million. To date the arrangement hasn’t appeared to be the better option although there were likely several factors that contributed to it. Quote Link to comment
Lorewarn
@knapplc you're still thinking too small. Instead of virtual reality coaches, I propose Twitch Plays Nebraska Football Our entire fanbase can coach in aggregate by setting up a livestream and using button macros to have tens of thousands of people hive mind making all the decisions together. 1 Quote Link to comment

Even better the new NCAA football allows the fans to cumulatively call all the plays in a real game. Who wants to bet triple option is called by 60% of the fan base every time. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah, good. If we can keep Iowa Fan from crashing our channel and running QB Sneak on 1st and 10, I'm on board. We'd have to set up a private channel. And give passwords out to only the best two or three million Husker fans. And then a poll that distills the best maybe six possible plays and presents them to the fans, and have them vote in like 16 seconds, and then relay that to VR Dr. Tom in time to relay it to the QB. I’m not gonna say my sources tell me because that sets it up for half the posters to roll their eyes at me but here is how it went down. Trev wanted to fire SF last year. A couple of significant boosters and some people weighed in with their concerns. Those concerns were no different from many fans concerns. I.e. message being sent, native son, payout and so forth. Who initiated the middle line decision I’m not sure of in the small group but they agreed to offer Scott a chance to resign and take full payment or agree to the settlement deal of the one year with a second…..or should I say fifth chance. This included the reduced buyout. SF to his credit wanted the second chance. There wasn’t any additional requirements put on Trev regarding what SF has to do to get a sixth year so it is in Trevs hands this time around. What Trev decides is probably still going to be run through Ronnie Green but even the boosters….the two involved…..are on board with what Trev decides this year. They all feel the original 5 year commitment was then honored. have at it attacking me. 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I would imagine if your contract was restructured to your detriment, you are aware of something. But the tone of the post game press conference was strange. And to bring up Rahmir unprompted was strange too. I am fearful of next Saturday. Not the Oklahoma game, but Georgia Southern. So many weird dynamics. Quote Link to comment
Dansker
If you’ve ever had a girlfriend that you had to “let down gently”, that’s exactly what Trev is doing to SF. Because he’s a native and played for us. We’re giving him that 5 year mark that Bill Moos famously said “Ask me how he’s doing in year 5” sort of thing. Well, here we are. It hasn’t worked out. So unless we somehow beat GA Southern and upset Oklahoma, Frost’s seat will remain scorching hot. 1 Quote Link to comment
