Safety position. Feet “set in the ground”? Hopefully that isn’t really what is being taught.

I think he is referring to knowing where to line up. The defense this year was struggling to get ready/set especially with any kind of movement. Offensive coordinators took advantage of Chins inability to get guys set/where to lineup with any kind of pre snap movement. There was a massive communication logjam by Reimer that didn’t work very well. Hence, simplifying everything. Trying to take away some of the god awful numerical disadvantages caused by poor scheming/inability to adjust and react.

With Indiana running the most plays of any team per game so far, and changing things over a bye week with a new defensive play caller, sounds like another disaster waiting to happen as far as being set/communicating.

I like our offense in this game.

I know we might slow it down, which is fine at times.  I just feel, offensively, at home, under the lights, we need to attack, attack, attack.

I don't expect our defense to change overnight.  No matter how much scheme and effort this week.  It will take some games to improve the Blackshirts.

If you want to win this one in particular, you might have to score 60 points.  So go do it.  Don't handcuff the offense this game, for the sake of the defense.  We are not playing Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa (the "slow it down" games).  Indiana is more than capable of screwing things up offensively, which will also help.

Just my opinion.

That makes more sense. I didn’t really think he meant “feet set” literally.

Believe we are one of the worst for plays against if I’m not mistaken

I agree.  Know you have to win a shootout and go for it.

I'll be interested to see if our guys keep pushing if they get down a score or two early, or if they fold.

I somewhat agree.  However, I'm fine with them slowing things down to give the defense time to rest.  However, if the defense actually comes out and has some success and gets off the field by not allowing long drives, I could see the offense start to pick up the pace.  Especially, if they are having success too with driving and scoring.  And, if they can get Indiana caught with personnel on the field they can exploit.
