That he WANTED to take the job is exciting because here is a guy who WANTS to rebuild our program! I’m excited about this hire and look forward to what he can accomplish here. GBR! He took this job because he knows it's a 95% chance it will also end with a multimillion dollar buyout. 2 1 1 5 Quote Link to comment

everybody knows my name
If I were a Husker fan, I would probably be satisfied but underwhelmed by this hire. If that's how you feel, I got you. Good luck, NU. I look forward to your team being a great rival and frequent second-place finisher in the West division. Quote Link to comment

BoSolich
if he keeps mickey it'll be a good hire. if he starts from scratch with his assistants this could be a disaster 1 2 Quote Link to comment

Pedro G
6 hours ago, Dogs In A Pile said: I like a lot of things in this article. I think Rhule has a lot of good qualities. But great recruiting is still half of it. And he didn’t mention recruiting. Callahan proved you can achieve top recruiting classes here. Building and developing from consistent top 15 classes is what is needed to separate from those five West Division teams going to bowls. Remember those five teams have very good builder and developer coaches. Without great recruiting, at best Rhule will likely be in a logjam with those five teams scrapping for 7 to 9 wins. So the question is are those assistant coaches mention in the article elite recruiters? If he wants to separate from those five other schools, he will need elite recruiting. Building and developing, as important as they are, can only go so far when these five other schools are doing a great job at it. My concern is — and I hope I am wrong — is he doesn’t strike me someone who will recruit better than those five schools or at least not much better. I see USC with Lincoln Riley ruling the West Division with very strong recruiting. But if fans would be satisfied with 7-9 win season, I think this guy can achieve that. And that is ok to have those lower expectations after having so many losing seasons. No disrespect. I don’t claim to be an expert, and I would be very happy if I’m proven wrong. I hope it works out much better. Husker love. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

I respect what they did for the program. I respect their knowledge. I respect their place in the history. But, most of them are just like most of the fans, and they have very little idea of what they're talking about or what the program needs to be better. At least, not any more than most of the fans. A lot of the 90's guys have gotten more quiet since the experiment with their boy Frost failed so miraculously. I don't mean to sound petty, but some of them treated the last 4-5 years like a high school reunion... like they were top dogs on campus again reliving their glory days. We also still have former Bo players who not-so-cryptically like to dunk on the fans and administration about 'see, see how hard it was to win 9 games?' They all just see what they want to see. I don't mind someone not liking the Rhule hire. That's fair. But, I don't get or support the pettiness some are showing. 5 1 1 1 9 Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
While he certainly wasn't my choice for HC if he can somehow do what we all thought SF was going to do then I have no issue at all eating crow. Honestly I'm hoping that I do and that this hire doesn't in the end turn into another bust. Still would love to know everyone we offered and as for Rhule undoubtedly next I am extremely interested to see what kind of staff he is able to put together. Quote Link to comment
Danny Bateman
A lot of Husker fans are miserable SOBs. Nobody’s opinion is any more correct than anyone else’s. But…. There is hope. We don’t have to say f#&% everything anymore. GBR Quote Link to comment
huskerfan74
I wonder if Matt Rhule was Trev’s first choice. I am not sure yet how I feel about the hire. I was so optimistic about Fraud Frost and we saw how that ended. I am hoping Rhule turns out more like Saban after his NFL stunt and not like Callahan. I guess time and next season will show us. Of course, if he does not do well in first year, everyone will blame players left. I hope to see major improvements in player development, strength and conditioning, special teams, and FOR THE LOVE OF ALMIGHTY, THE OL because what we currently have is not an OL. 1 Quote Link to comment
