Considering where we were at, and the pieces he has added thus far, I want to give an A...

However; Colorado was in an ever worse spot, and Deion has put together a class that is almost unbelievable with all things considered.

Since Deion is the standard for an A thus far, Coach Rhule gets a solid B...

However, we are only a portion into the "semester", and "final grades" can't be made out until mid/late 2023 football season, in all honesty

I  said B:

1.  We haven't played a game or seen spring practice yet

2.  Concerns about the staff-  a few head scratchers.  But I think the OC and DC are fine.

On the positive:

1. Great communicator

2.  Appears to be a great recruiter to pull off this respectable class in such a short time

3.  General football philosophy -  I think we will finally see old school Nebraska's version of Big 10 football being played by our team

When Rhule became available, he was my first choice, but I thought it was unrealistic - that it wouldn't happen.   I was pleasantly surprised when it did.

I thought Rhule was very gettable, if he wanted to coach.  IMO, he was the most realistic of the "big names" available.

What?  We were sitting with the #60 class in the country when Rhule took over and now we are sitting with the #25 class and they are at #44.  Why the hell would Deion be the "standard for an A"?

The Deion worshiping that some people are doing is getting ridiculous.

I agree with you and I’m not advocating that Prime is a better hire, but he does have the #1 transfer class in the country right now.

I was going to ask a similar question…. I was wanting to have people compare Rhule’s first month compared to SF first month…. If possible, set aside “what we know now” and base it ONLY off of what SF was able to say and do (philosophy, staff, recruiting) compared to Rhule.

I was more excited at the time for the SF hire, than Rhule. Although I will say that I trust Rhule, a few staff hires have me wondering… but I still like his staff more than SF bringing basically is entire UCF staff….. philosophy is a draw, bc talk is talk…. Both recruiting classes impressed me with short time, but I think Nebraska is a bigger dumpster fire post SF than it was post MR… with hat said, what Rhule has priced together at this point is more impressive IMO

To stay on topic, I will give a current grade of B

Rhule hasn't posted any sweet dancing videos on his InstantGram or TikTok.

He hired a few position coaches that I've never heard of and I know ALL the positions coaches in all of footbaw

He too busy posting emoticons on his Tweeter which is why we haven't won a game and don't have the #1 recrootin class!

Is it though?

Am I reading things right that he brought in 20 transfer portal players? That’s almost double all the other schools in the portal rankings.

He def is bringing some talent but the transfer portal is as much of a crap shoot, if not more, than HS recruitIng.

Rhule- solid A.

The people unhappy or worried about the Asst coaches, I get it. Some of it makes sense.

It seems Rhule has an actual coaching tree. When he develops players it is more than just to play, it’s to be future coaches as well.

He is bringing in coaches he has mentored and groomed for this moment. Some probably won’t work out but I bet just as many will go on to get big jobs elsewhere…and that is when the young GA’s and position coaches get promoted to bigger positions here.

It doesn’t look to me like he is ‘bringing in his buddies.’ He is developing a pipeline for long term success.

We heard all of the stories that he'd sit a year off and wait for a plum job.  That is why I had my doubts of his availability

I say an "A" for now but subject to change. I love the fact that he finds the hidden gems and has a history of developing players and getting them in the league. He also has a history of getting teams to play like well a team. His recruiting is good on paper right now. I love the idea of a fullback and actual power game of some sorts. I hope this 3-3-5 defense is attacking and starts to hit the QB again and again. He knows what he wants from the OLine and that is refreshing. I am betting the under on six wins, but I believe winning is coming once the foundation is set.

To be honest.  I was joking.  The timeline of Rhule's hire was nearly exactly what I expected when Frost was fired.

There that should last you a few days. You'll have to get your own milk! :D

Probably doesn't like milk and cookies...

So Huskerboard I just wanted to know what grade would you give Nebraska for the hiring of Matt Rhule so far.  That includes how excited you are for the hire and everything else since he took over.  For me I gave it a B - when he first got hired bc I felt there were better suited candidates but at the same time realizing that he brought Baylor back from the dead.  When he took over and started recruiting Nebraska class which was ranked in the 60's on the 247 website I believe and when the early signing period ended he had gotten it down to 25 which speaks on how hard him and his staff have worked.  After it's all said and done I give him a B + or A -.  I feel him and his staff have done a outstanding job of bringing in guys they want.  Yes their are question marks about the staff hires but feel Matt Rhule has brought in who he thought could change our fortune just feel like recruits and Husker Nation have to see results on the field to make the grading of him higher.  Also the buzz around here has been good but no where close to the buzz that SF had when he got hired.  Yes I know he was a former player and we all wanted it to work.  Don't know if we are all gutted from him that it didn't and now we are not putting all our eggs into the basket with Matt Rhule quiet yet.

I believe life is like gym class.  Pass or fail.

It doesn’t matter if you’re the tether ball champion at Fuzzy Bush Elementary or trying to lock down a solid recruiting class.

This one is a pass.  Good thread Matty.
