A point an insider made to me today is the myth of at-large spots, regarding an 8-team playoff. Technically there are 4 at-large now but it’s weighted toward conference champions. Only 4 of 28 CFP have been at-large.

An 8-teamer (with auto-bids) would guarantee more at-larges.
