2025 Blackshirts

It’s true…and not too long before that there were 2 plays where I wanted the coaches to replace him.
Funny how that works out.
Still not a huge fan but w a single digit and blackshirt his teammates and coaches think differently of him than we do

Butler's defense has done very well in first halves. Pretty much everything you could ask for with point-based results.

But, the 2nd half tells a different story.

1st half Scoring against Butler's Blackshirts-
Cincy 3 points
Akron, HCU 0 points
NW, USC 6 points
MSU, Minn 7 points
Mich, Maryland 17 points

7 out of 9 games played, the defense has allowed 7 points or less in the 1st half. That's pretty incredible. That alone should have led to 7 wins instead of 5.

It's likely that the Husker offense has not taken full advantage of it, by getting up big by half-time.

Look at who we have played thus far. I am guessing that if you figure out average offensive ratings those team combined are in the 90's nationally for total offensive production, even with USC. I agree with your take, but in perspective, we have not consistently faced great scoring teams. That is a common theme amongst Big 10 lower tier teams recently. I think the defense does a great job of preparing thru out the week for the opponent. I also think that we are not capable of making adjustments on the fly, thus why teams come out after halftime and score easier on us.

Agree with not seemingly making adjustments in the 2nd half, and playing against teams with less talented offenses.

However, we cannot 2nd guess or control who we play. The 1st half results with our defense has done a very good job for what is being asked to do against who we play. So it's okay to look for positives, embrace it, and work on the negatives (2nd half adjustments and mistakes).

I will also admit, clearly, that our run-defense and support is not good.

Isn't Butler running White's 3-3-5? I wonder if he will make changes to the scheme in the off-season with his own identity.
