****Iowa Game Day Thread****

Do we fire rhule? No. It takes time but do you change things if you are him? You better. He changed the special teams coach and that was a home run. Time to do the same with DC and I believe the boring lack of creativity OC. I also stop accepting Alabama or other teams rejects. I age 2 people on my staff that do nothing other than watch film on lower D1,D2 teams and look for players that have proven their worth their and more importantly look like they are hungry to win and face it get paid. This is what Iowa did and they just killed us with their qb. Yes you need young players but then again do you? Since they can leave every year, unless they are die hard Huskers from birth why bother to try to build a team with freshman. They will leave if they are any good. Go get the players that want to play hard just like the Iowa player play year in and year out. Not super talented but want to win
Stumbled into the special teams hire just like the DR recruitment.

The problem is that we have weak fans just like our coaches. We win a game that we are supposed to win and all of a sudden the stats come out and we start thinking we are making progress and complaining why we are not ranked. If you truly watch college football, it does not take much to realize that Rhule has done nothing in terms of progress. We have a 5-star QB and one of the best running backs in the country and we managed a 7-5 record when we didn’t play the top three teams in the conference. Our record is an illusion and a result of a soft schedule. Good players will soon realize that Rhule is not a good coach. If EJ played for Oregon, he would be in the Heisman top consideration. Nebraska has become the team that opponents use to break records and set records. No one is afraid to play Rhule and his weak coaches because even an interim coach can shred them to pieces. The extension just delayed the inevitable. Rhule will be fired sometime in the next 2-3 years and he will be a very rich man. Meanwhile, we will be hoping that there is another Cignetti out there and we are not too blind to find him.

Damon Benning calling out the culture in year 3 of Rhule. He’s not a good color man. He’s just not good. He had some soliloquies that were so stupid.

But he did at least speak the truth.
Can’t just be words, gotta actually make some gains. F’ing Key needs to catch the f’ing ball. Some players need to make some f’ing tackles. Some dudes need to just be some animals and make football plays.

But the COACHES make their players make plays. You can take some decent players and make them better and they can turn into f’ing good players. Our coaches turn really good players into average players real quick for the last 10yrs.

Dead serious: In the near future if the Big 12 should ever consider expansion or relalignment again...Nebraska absolutely should consider it.
The BIG more of an academic partnership than a Football one. NU would lose by leaving, so they won't. The regents would shut down the football program before leaving.

Isn't that what we were mad at Davidson about when Frost was there? All game the post have been about how poor the team looks in year 3. DB has been saying all week this was a culture game after the whooping @ PSU.

gosh damn. Listening to Rhule talk about the exact same thing we are saying.
Great effort, good players, EJ is awesome. Blah blah blah.
But but but.

The coaches make players better. Great coaches DEMAND the best. We are so middling. We are so ranked 68. Welcome to the New Age

Rhule needs to do the right thing and resign before we suffer through 3 more years of this before we inevitably fire him.

Nebraska football is an embarrassment to the sport.

I agree.

The Big Ten is great for academics and for Volleyball.

But for football - Nebraska in the Big Ten will always be swimming upstream and with each passing 7-5 year will continue to degrade this once proud program.

The Big 12 was a much better league from a football standpoint for Nebraska. They could be one of 3 or 4 big name programs. That is not the case and never will be the case in the Big Ten.

Just speaking from a football point of view - Nebraska moving to the Big Ten and away from the Big 12 was a big mistake.

They just asked Rhule what the fan base should think into year 3.

He said he has great recruits here today visiting. He’s looking forward to getting the thing right.

He is really pissed off they lost and he understands they need to do better.
Asks Husker fans to not get toxic and blame kids/players. They’ll have a bowl game, a lot practice can happen during that time, hopefully everyone can take a deep breath.

He’s now talking about the youth of the defense and that there is growth because guys are sticking around. He’s gonna hit the road and get the players we need.

Talking up EJ, says he’ll be a good pro player (he won’t be a good pro player imo) but whatever he chooses he appreciates his play.

He’s answering a bunch of questions now, but he doesn’t actually address the fact they got Texasing destroyed today.

Football wise NU gained some money, but NU recieved $250 million in research funding off the bat when they joined the BIG. Which built out the technology park on the old fairgrounds. The schools divvy up $9.3 billion a year in research grants.

The football team not as important to the Regents as people think.

To say nothing of what kinds of players the extra B1G does provide the football team.

I'm not blaming the players. I am blaming you and your JV staff. This is year 3. Recruit, develop or buy a good team. Your DC sucks, OC is clueless (did get EJ as RB1). Satt and Thomas stealing money. Barthel? year 3 and who is RB 2. Hell, he had EJ buried and dead until Dana came in.... I could go on and on. You have a weak staff and don't get in players a$$es for screwing the pooch. As @I am I said abut Benning, I didn't hear it from him, but another guy who was at practice had made comments about staff not getting into players faces that it was paraphrase (my words) like the NFL....Sadly, we hired another .500 coach and expected more. Wanted that 3 year turnaround and then he'd probably leave. Other than the W-L are we any better? And the DL, damn man you knew in 2023 that Ty and Natt were gone in 2024....WT didn't you plan better. Recruit or spend money to get guys in.. Year 3 with YOUR guys and they still struggle. We got taken behind the woodshed and got the sh$t kicked out of us and you stood there with your hands in your pockets with sad hound dog eyes like you have/had no idea how to fix this. But at least you're getting paid. Well played my friend, well played.

Frost was supposed to be our home state guy, that built up the team on National Championship toughness. Direct experience from Osborne on how to do it. Then he turned out worse than an old Oregon State coach.

The biggest dissapointment. And why we need a coach with the mentality no matter where they come from. He was our lower tier winner like Cignetti, and had the experience of what it takes to win Championships playing on championship level teams, but went the wrong way fast.
