Emmett Johnson

Wonder what his 40 time would be tbh. His top gear is pretty slow but he has good burst and jump cut ability. He is quick before he hits the safety level and then he is extremely, extremely slow.

I think this really holds him back. I don't think he'll run a good 40 time, and that will hurt.

I still think he'll get a shot but not sure it'll be enough. Great vision and feel for the game but not all that fast and doesn't break a ton of tackles.

In the NFL they'll expect blitz blocking and chipping. There are other parts to a game than just rushing.

Everyone is fast in the NFL. It's tough to out run anyone other than a lineman. And not always them.

I hope he stays here, adds 15 lbs, doesn't get trucked occasionally in blitz pickup, runs for 1800 yards and catches 500.

Great RB. Hope he grows up in our program one more year.

But I get going pro too.

Just my opinion, but if he had true breakaway speed, he’d be a day 2 pick. Even then I don’t think his speed is a huge setback. His 83 receptions over the past 2 years really help his value. The two premier pass catching backs over the past several years, CMC and Alvin Kamara, had 82 and 74 receptions their final 2 years respectively.

Bucky ran a 4.55 and he became a starter. Kaleb Johnson a 4.57 and he was a 3rd rounder. Skat reportedly ran a 4.65 at a workout and he was great before the injury.

Some other notable NFL RBs that ran slow 40s less recently-

Priest Holmes- 4.73
Arian Foster- 4.69
Alvin Kamara- 4.56
Ameer Abdullah- 4.60

the draft is a complete crapshoot for running backs unless you are a freak which EJ is not.

i think it'll fully depend on how much NIL money he could get by staying.

skattebo was a monster in college and is making a million dollars a year for the giants.

He should definitely enter the draft.

If you're making money in college, though, playing in bowl games should be mandatory.

Should have gave EJ the ball at the end of the game instead of HH. 99% chance EJ will declare for the draft.
I would scold my OC for ever running the wildcat. Biggest waste of a play in football. I’m glad HH is gone just so Dana can’t be a doofus and run that stupid crap anymore.

Iowa is #26 in the country in fewest yards allowed per rushing attempt at 3.51.

Yesterday Emmett averaged 4.1 yards per attempt BEFORE CONTACT.

if jeremiah smith for OSU is getting 3.8 then emmit is easily worth 3 million. that's potentially double what he'd get as an nfl rookie if he's not drafted in the top 2 rounds.
