Today is the 15th anniversary of Nebraska dismantling Oklahoma 73-21 on the road. I was lucky enough to have been there. A low point for the OU program but one of Nebraska's high marks.

I remember it being 52-0 and then it turned into a joke.... didn't both sides have a kickoff return TD or something weird?

Oklahoma was never happy about the score....they insisted we ran it up. And I never had a problem with it.

I know... I think the last sooner score might have been the kickoff return.... and I was dead set mental! Those were back in the days where the score was never lopsided enough

Being on the road Nebraska had a limited number of players on the travel roster and could only go so far down on the depth chart. In the fourth quarter fourth string RB Jay Simms got his only playing time and had 98 yards on seven carries and scored twice. Likewise Sooner RB De'mond Parker ran all over the Nebraska subs and finished with 151 yards on 13 carries and all three OU scores in the fourth quarter.

Sims was probably one of our most underrated backs and seemed to always score touchdowns playing with subs. Could sure use him now to back up TRex

Jay Sims probably could have started other years.... he was that good. Having Phillips and Ahman Green above him on the depth chart never helped his cause.
