1995 Nebraska: The All-Time Greatest!

Just f'ing Beautiful

Two generations of Cornhuskers clashed in the final round of the Classic, but in the end, the

1995 Nebraska squad prevailed over their 1971 counterparts. ’95 Nebraska received the most

votes in every single round, dominating opponents much like they dominated Florida in the

Fiesta Bowl, where they won 62-24.

Nebraska fans were out in full force tonight, leading the 1971 team past recent favorites

2004 USC and 2005 Texas. They rallied in the closing seconds to just barely inch by Pete

Carroll’s team, but never truly dominated the late votes. Coach Tom Osborne’s 1995 squad

proved too much for Bob Devaney’s team, defeating them by 65% of the vote. The 1995 team

was no stranger to crushing the opposition; behind QB Tommie Frazier and RB Ahman Green,

they outscored opponents by an average of 38 points per game.

Most reasonable college football fans agree that the 95 Huskers were the greatest. I have talked with tOSU and USC fans that believe they have had recent teams that would smoke us. I just laugh.

no, the best part of the night was not that we had THE greatest team of all time...but also the SECOND greatest team of all time! Nebraska vs. Nebraska!!

And we probably could have even had a 3rd best team of all time if it hadn't been 95 Nebraska vs. 83 Nebraska in the quarter finals. We might have even had all three Nebraska teams in the semifinals!

I should have just checked the board earlier and found this out instead of staying up till 2300 to see the end of the show. Herbsroad and May are still toolz. Still luv the Switzmeister though. :) He still doesn't waver from when he states his opinion. For the most part a good show.

Where was the 97 team?????????????????????

GBR

If only '83 wasn't in the same bracket as '95 we would have had all 3 in the final 4. That would have made it just that much more glorious.

1620 was just play sound bytes of Herbstreit throwing his hissy fit over 2 Nebraska teams making the final four. He was especially bitter that it was two Nebraska teams in the final. He really had no knowledge about the 71 Huskers but was adamant they would have lost to 01 Miami. He was being a bigger baby than a spoiled kindergartner when the game isn't going in his favor. He just showed he is a grade "A" punk and the leader of the ESPN Nebraska haters.

I don't see how they can argue about our weight room factor. Wasn't it widely assumed that back in the mid 90's, Nebraska had the best and biggest weight room around. A weight room that gave us a huge advantage on the field. No one has that type of a reputation from their weight room in the 2000's. Plus, I would still put up our lineman against any other teams defense that they were arguing for. I think our o-line would still whoop them today.
