2007 FB?

Who will be our FB next year, do we have anyone decent to replace Todd or will Castille come in and start? We really need a solid FB for next year, Todd made a lot of plays for us and if we lose that completly we may see some rough times. So whos the FB?

40 Koehler, Colton FB 6-1 225 RFr. Harvard, Neb.

35 Makovicka, Justin FB 6-1 225 Fr. Brainard, Neb. (East Butler)

47 Farino, Paul FB 6-0 270 RFr. East Meadow, N.Y. (Kellenberg Memorial)

48 Sand, Andy FB 6-2 225 Jr. Lincoln, Neb. (Southeast)

42 Senske, Matt FB 6-3 235 Jr. Bellevue, Neb (Bellevue East)

36 Lawson, Thomas RB 6-0 230 So. Parker, Colo. (Ponderosa)

The "Real" question is in the CornCoast Offense...will the FullBack ever be utilized as a runner the way Andra Franklin was..Or even Macovica, Slessinger, or Rathman for that matter?

Seems like it would be a simple and effective way of getting a little "Smashmouth" back.

I dont really care if our FB ever gets a carry I was want a solid blocker... Todd made so many big blocks this year springing huge plays, ex: Brandon Jacksons TD Shovel Pass.

I think it will be between Senske and Lawson. I dont see how Castille can come in and learn all of his assignments that quick.

If all our fullback is ever going to do is block why not get the biggest, strongest player we can out there as fullback. Especially as much as the FB stays back on many pass plays to protect the QB.

If that becomes the criteria then maybe Farino is the man. Or maybe they should consider moving one of the less promising linemen over to the position like walkon Freshman Dennis Bergland who could be a bulldozer out of the back field at 6-1, 305. It could be an interesting experiment. <_<

I was thinking the same thing..

I just couldn't bring myself to come up with or even utter the phrase, "less promising".

Ideally, the fullback in the West Coast offense is also a receiver - particularly for hot reads. So, you want one big, tough, son-of-a-b!^@h that can also catch and get some YAC.

Unfortunately this will probably be a moot point as Castille will be probably be playing for Louisville the way it looks.
Castille has been upgraded from "soft" to "firm" commit by the experts. So it looks like Callahan's visit paid off. Of course, almost everything about recruiting is only rumor and speculation, so take it for what it's worth.

It would be pretty cool to see a Makovicka in the backfield again. I don't think it will be next year. But in the future anyways.
