2016 NCAA Player Ratings: Nebraska

Feel free to post your edits on players as well. This gives a good snapshot going into the season on where we are at with talent. I think this team has several players who are on the cusp of turning the corner, but being realistic, we don't have a lot of 'great' players heading into the fall. Of course the player ratings are based off of the game which is no longer-- NCAA Football. If it were coming out this year, below are the projected player ratings.

Believe that Armstrong was the highest rated recruit coming out of HS that's starting in the B10 this year, save Barrett. He has a rare combination of speed, size and passing ability. I'd say his skills are in the low to mid 90s.

In general, I think you're a bit hard on our players. Guys like Gerry, Kalu, and Westy are too low, but I guess i need to see how you rank other rosters to understand the context.

But to me, guys who are rated as the best at their position in the B10 are at least 94 level guys, and in some cases should be higher.

Which roster year was that? 2012? That roster really was pretty thin in the senior ranks. It may have been one of our overall thinnest rosters, which probably due to the effect of the massively mismanaged roster left behind by Callahan, which meant a transition class (2008) and two small classes due to numbers constraints (only 36 freshman signed those two years). Definitely left the team thin in terms of upperclassmen.

Therefore, it might not be the best roster to use as a point of reference, but I understand why you did with it being the last provided by EA.

God I miss getting a new NCAA football game each year. I still got a 30 plus season dynasty going with some friends on the last one they made.

Here are my thoughts.

Tommy Armstrong: 92 - 80 ish throw accuracy, but high end running ratings and arm strength.

Ryker Fyfe: 80

AJ Bush: 77 - I have him bumped down a couple pegs.

POB: 75 -

Terrell Newby: 85

Devine Ozigbo: 85: - lower stamina and speed rating than newby but much better run vision.

Mikale Wilbon: 80 - bumped him down a couple, he's good but still needs some more development.

Tre Bryant: 80 - I hear nothing but how day one ready this kid is, so I'd give him this. He would be that rare 80 recruiting gem three star

Cethan Carter: 92 - bumped him cuz this dude is a freak when healthy

Matt Snyder: 73 - Snyder is good but I reserve the high 70's for early contributors, I think he is a little more developmental yet.

Derrion Grim: 77 - took him a couple down just cuz I think he redshirts and is still a developmental prospect, but one with an enormous upside.

That's not because we didn't have talent, its' because that was a year that EA reset their ratings inflation. Every few years guys would keep getting rated higher and higher and higher and higher, but slowly, so you end up with a semi-broken game where everyone is in the high 70's to high 80's, when in reality, you're judging this out of 100. Not everyone is a B player.

On ratings, yeah, it doesn't make very much sense to me if all players are in the 80s and all starters are in the 90s. Teams get really indistinguishable from one year to the next.

Thinnest in terms of the upperclass.

And yes, Callahan's unbalanced classes did take multiple cycles to iron out.
