After a 0-2 start, Nebraska finds itself at .500 with some newfound confidence.
“I’m just looking to continue to take steps in the right direction, hopefully continue to get better,” coach Fred Hoiberg said. “We’re going to be playing some good opponents and we haven’t had this stretch where we’ve played a lot of games in a short amount of time.”
Nebraska will start the weekend against a 2-2 Washington State team in a similar situation as the Huskers. Kyle Smith is in his first year after taking over for Ernie Kent, who was hired and extended by former WSU — and current NU — Athletic Director Bill Moos. Kent was fired last year after five seasons.
