2024 College Football Playoff Rankings

I believe Indiana is top 5 more than I believe Miami is. Miami has had too many close calls and their SOS isn't great.

I have had so much fun following SMU this year (finally ranked in top 25 as a 1 loss team to undefeated BYU) . 

I have always liked them and rooted for them. 

Unless they run the table and beat Miami, they will probably not make it. 

Would be awesome to see SMU play Miami for the ACC champ.  They are both on a collision course to do so.

However, Only a 2 loss SEC team or 2 loss B1G team would make the playoffs. 

Maybe a 2 loss ACC team if it was named "Clemson".  But most definitely not SMU.  Dang.

Local radio today was talking about what it would take for sCUm to get into the playoffs this year. It would likely take winning the Big 12, but the fact that they are even in the discussion really bothers me. But I'm not bitter or anything...

 
I really thought that by expanding extra teams to the playoff bracket -  it was to drive excitement, reward college teams for having a great season, and ensure that no team would have to question why they were left out looking in.... by embracing a fair, unbiased tournament.  

Boy was I wrong.  It still comes down to name brands (the usual suspects) and shuffling the SEC to pretend it all makes sense.

Miami is still projected to win the ACC, and I think the top-4 seeds are the highest ranked conference champions. Or maybe just the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12 champs? Either way, it's dumb but you are reading it correctly. There's just a difference between the rankings and how things get seeded.

The realignment is so new that I looked at those four teams and didn't recognize them as conference reps.

It is weird that the projected top 4 include teams associated with the dead PAC-12, The Mountain West, Big 12, and ACC.

My true nightmare scenario is Colorado winning out (reasonably likely, Utah may trip them up) and then beating BYU in the Big 12 championship. Depending on how things shake out in the ACC they could not only make the playoff, but also be the #3 overall seed.

Couldn't draw it up any better for the powers that be. God I'd love to see Bama and Georgia taking on ND and PSU at home in December though, and Ole Miss at Indiana.
