We don't really need to rehash this, but she had an unbelievable season and also had a brutally bad match. She also didn't seem to be rounding into form or anything, she played in 4 sets (although was benched for chunks of the last 2). What do you think the narrative would be if we played her in the 5th and had the same outcome? Probably "What kind of coach keeps going back to a player hitting .045 when her sub was hitting 5 times more effectively?"

Sure, you can argue we should live and die by our star players. But people can also argue for pivoting to another good player who was playing better. She had a heckuva season in any case, it's just a shame that her worst match will be the most remembered because it was the end of their run.

And a lot of her hitting issues were because the sets she was getting were not very good.

In the last two sets, Jackson had 2 kills and 1 error on 7 swings. Ogbechie had 2 kills and 2 errors on 7 swings. That hardly seems like "playing better" to me, let alone "5 times more effectively."

The 5 times better is just going by overall hitting percentage, .045 for Jackson compared to .250 for Ogbechie. They were all playing with the same setter, and 22 attacks with that big of a difference (Allick hit .480) is a lot to chalk up to bad sets. I think the sets were significantly worse than usual, but not that bad. Jackson also didn't have a block after the first set, and Ogbechie had 3 over the last 2 sets.

I do think it's fair to question whether DBK should have tried Jackson one more time in the 5th. I don't think it's reasonable to act like it was coaching malpractice to leave her out.

Each ticket is barcoded (or similar technology) and when you post them for sale online that barcode is deactivated and a new one assigned. There has to be some computer interaction behind the scenes to know that one barcode has been deactivated and a different one activated so that only the correct one can be used. I'm sure it's pretty easy to track from there. If all of your tickets went through that process, they're apparently going to boot you.
 
Do we hit the portal for some depth behind Virginia or for a Landfair replacement? I think we would just need one more veteran presence. Since this next year we will be going all in.
