247 Picks Top RB Combos in the Nation

IDK if he will be back to full speed, but if Marshall is that pick is a good one. The Bama duo is also a scary combo especially with how much they will lean on them with a new QB.. I do think AA & Cross fit in the top 5 and will at the conclusion of this season..

I think Ameer Abdullah is getting way too much national publicity and Heisman consideration to be considered under-rated. He has everyone's attention now, but it will require that rare senior season free of injury and carrying a heavy statistical load -- not always the sign of a healthy, balanced team.

As for Imani Cross; it gets kinda wonky at this point, but how many returning #2 rushers can you name on any given team?

does ANYONE outside of the B1G know who Ameer Abdullah is?

seriously..
The casual college football fan probably know who he is, but not much else. This mostly has to do with media coverage. This isn't a bash on the media by any means, first and foremost, but think about it. What do you people love to see? They love to see big time players making big time plays in big time games. But, importantly, they want to see those teams winning.

Nebraska loses a lot of big time games which negates a lot of the interest to the casual fan.

I think Taylor Martinez' title game run is a perfect example. I consider myself a fairly knowledgable Husker fan that's pretty devoted, and even I forget about that run. And, that's mostly cause we lost.

Point is Abdullah is going to have to make some big plays in big games, and Nebraska is going to have to win some of them, if we want the casual fan to know Ameer Abdullah.

By the end of the season, assuming it goes well, we probably have a solid 1 and then 2a, 2b, 2c... Ameer will be great as long as he is healthy. But Imani will be the bruiser, Newby will be the scat back, Taylor will be the backup bruiser, and God help us all if the tank known as Wilbon gets quality PT. We very well could end up with a superstar and then several talented backs with unimpressive numbers.

The best part of our backfield for this year will be our offensive line. They could be the most talented unit we have had in years. That will make the running backs look even better.
