This seems to me to be the best gauge of roster talent across all programs. Still not perfect - it goes by player's rating out of high school and not development - but it does take into account players who have transferred out or in.

Here's a look at where this year's opponents rank:

5 - Ohio State

20 - Oregon

24 - Nebraska

33 - Wisconsin

39 - Maryland

45 - Northwestern

55 - Iowa

54 - Indiana

57 - Illinois

58 - Minnesota

62 - Purdue

111 - Fresno State

121 - Wyoming

Another roster that should be doing more with what it has is Nebraska. This is a top 25 roster that only looks up at Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State in the Big Ten. Mike Riley has the players to turn those close losses last season into wins in year two.

Also, apparently I had gotten back on the 2015 rankings when I originally posted this. I corrected the link and numbers for 2016. didn't change a whole lot.
