30 for 30 on the 1984 Orange Bowl?

All references to Incognito and NU that I referred to were on national television and seen in Wisconsin. Perhaps I watch more television than the rest of you??? NU references were made multiple times. People can call me a liar and stick their collective heads in the sand, but it will not change the fact that it happened on several occasions.

Riddle me this folks: Wouldn't you agree that our pride in running a clean program is a major point of contention with people that don't fancy the Huskers? Haven't you heard the sneers about the "greatest fans in college football walk through these gates?" Do you honestly think that it is a stretch for someone in the media to point out instances that isn't so? People love to tear things down, and we're certainly perceived as THE "holier than thou" fan base.

No.....It isn't a stretch at all. No tin foil hats need to be passed out.

All I know is that the national media can't mention anything bad that happened at Nebraska.

It's also physically impossible for them to praise Nebraska enough.

And any mention of the SEC destroys everything it touches.

The kneejerk defense of ESPN again clouds better judgment.

I don't think a full-blown mid-90's Nebraska 30-for-30 would be overly interesting to anyone outside of this state. Though certainly a compelling story, I agree that it would HAVE to be told with some of the off-the-field issues talked about, which would ruffle Husker fans' feathers. It's all part of the story yet a lot of people want to overlook it.

I kind of look at it the same way I look at Alabama's most recent run. Yeah, they're really really good, but what's the big storyline outside of the on the field success that can anchor me through the story?

The Brian Bosworth 30-for-30 is a good example. Great college player and phenomenal athlete. But, what makes his story so compelling is his ridiculous style and attitude towards life off the field, in combination with this epic downfall and consideration as one of the biggest NFL busts of all time.

I guess I just kind of struggle to see what would be overly compelling to anyone that doesn't bleed Husker red.

If you look carefully at posts 17, 21, 22, 25 and 30 they contain far more evidence and logic than the kneejerk belief that ESPN has an institutional vendetta against the University of Nebraska.

Neil deGrasse Tyson prefers emperical evidence, you know.

But hey, let's try one more post:

Do you think more ESPN viewers know Nebraska as the home of Jack Hoffman, Ameer Abdullah and Bo Pelini's cat, or as the school that spawned Lawrence Philllips and Richie Incognito?

I don't have the numbers, so let's just go with our gut feelings.

The question was if Richie Incognito is being paired with Nebraska in national media coverage. I gave evidence. It was ignored with "something something something paragraph 16."

It wasn't the question. Please don't make me do this, Knapp. You'll think I have it in for you again.

If you can dig all the way back to a few hours ago, as Neil deGrasse Tyson would want you to do, the paranoid premise was that the national media referred to Richie Incognito and Lawrence Phillips first and foremost as Nebraska players, in a way they did not with say, Adrian Peterson or the hundreds of other football players recently engaged in bad behavior.

That you produced an article in which Richie Incognito is referred to as a Miami Dolphins player in the opening paragraph, then 16 paragraphs later refers to his relevant bad behavior at Nebraska doesn't make your case, it makes mine. Unless simply pairing Nebraska with controversial former Nebraska players constitutes bias. Which also makes my point.

Speaking of ignoring, haven't seen any refuting of posts 17, 21 and 35.

I am not taking up the banner for or against the national media, ESPN most especially. All I'm saying is, Lawrence Phillips was and still is referred to as a Nebraska player as recently as 2009 when he was sentenced to forever in prison. He hasn't been out since, and considering that this is the last time he would have made national news, and the picture used was of him in a Nebraska jersey, it's a valid statement.

I don't care if someone labels it bias or factual reporting, I'm simply pointing out that this happens. Saying Phillips and Incognito are not paired with Nebraska is unfactual.

Put whatever connotation on that pairing you wish. If that supports your position that's great. T_O_Bull can think it supports his position and that's swell as well. I'm just the guy providing links.

Where did anyone not named you make this accusation? I'm missing it.

If this is an argument over T_O_Bull's use of the word "always" then I'm out. Parsing of words this finely isn't worth my time.

Sounds like it here:

"Two Points, One Title," a film documenting Tom Osborne's decision to go for two points against Miami in the 1984 Orange Bowl, will air Sunday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Jon Frankel, who wrote and produced the show, spent more than a year talking with coaches and players involved and members of the media who covered the game, which the Hurricanes won 31-30 when Turner Gill's two-point conversion pass to Jeff Smith was tipped away.
Thanks for the headsup Maveric..I just set it up to record so I can show my Son that sometimes winning isn't the only thing.

Living in sometimes hostile territory...I get a lot of grief about some of our players, running up the score, Osborn winning at all costs, "nineteen ta nuthin", something about me being a corn cob pounder...But by far, the most positive comments are about T.O. going for two.,...In many ways, Losing that way is more heroic than any win could ever be...After decades of healing...I'm not sure I'd change the outcome just to get another MNC.

Same thing with our first loss to Florida State and being swept up with the rest of the crowd giving their team a standing Orgasm as they left the field...If we'd won by as much as we were expected to, I doubt Bobby Bowden or I would even remember that game all these years later...Even though my cousin scored two Touchdowns as a redshirt freshman.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDoFMqyfYpM

Looking forward to reliving the pain a little...

......somewhere in a Stamford office......

"Bayless! Where's your 800 words on Richie Incognito?"

"Right here sir!"

(Flips through) "yes....yes......wait a minute! You haven't mentioned where he went to college! "

"Well I--"

"Bayless you FOOL! DONT YOU KNOW WHERE HE WENT TO COLLEGE? Nebraska! How dare you forget rule 32a!"

"I'm sorry sir, I know that 32a is.."

"32a is the load bearing beam in the whole Espn universe! 32a dictates that we must keep Nebraska down at all costs! Our negative slant in Nebraska keeps those clicks pulsing from the center of the nation! Don't you see?"

"I'm sorry sir, I'll add where he got kicked off his college team"

"Be sure and find a way to horn in Lawrence Phillips on the story too"

I mean, I think many here actually believe the above happens.
