3rd downs

First time posting on the boards! Just wondering if you guys were thinking the same thing as me... When our defense is on the field and it is a 3rd down in an obvious passing situation, why don't we blitz more? I know for the most part our defense has made great strides this year, and I also know we have a great front four, but I just think that is something we need to do more of to disrupt the quarterback and make him uncomfortable.

Simple answer why we don't is that Bo wants to get coverage sacks. Flood the patterns with defenders and put pressure on the QB with the front four only. It works when he has a Gregory or Suh, but even those guys get blocked or impeded long enough to let the QB find an open man.

Bo blitzes inside the 20s, almost invariably. There are occasions when he blitzes more, but they're the exception. I'd like to see us blitz more, but Bo is way too conservative for that.
