So this is something that I've always wondered but never asked on a message board. It seems like every year there are a handful of top flight recruits that are just as amazing in the classroom as on the playing field. Would it be against the rules for them to simply walk on to play a sport and take a full ride academic scholarship? It would free up a scholarship for whatever team he played for. I've never heard of it being done, but it makes sense.
