Armstrong said tight end Cethan Carter looks a lot more comfortable with Nebraska’s offense after coming off a true freshman season where he was thrown into the fire.

Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong said he spent his spring break with his iPad watching game film from the first few weeks of spring practice. He said he then tries to set up time to go over film with his wide receivers.

Terrell Newby said he wants to have a bigger role in Nebraska’s passing game. The Husker staff has used a little two-back this spring, and Newby said there are some wrinkles to get him more involved in the offense. Newby had the play of the day Monday, taking a short pass from Johnny Stanton almost 80 yards for a touchdown.

— Maliek Collins spent a good portion of the day at defensive end Monday. Collins has the versatility to play on the outside, and he earned high praise from Abdullah, who said Collins was one of the best defensive tackles he’s played against in his time in the Big Ten.

Joe Keels wasn’t at Monday’s practice, but Pelini said he expects the junior college transfer to be back at practice Wednesday.

— Pelini called the sentencing of Alex Lewis a “curve ball,” but said Lewis has done everything asked of him since arriving on campus last fall.

— Nebraska continued to move personnel at linebacker. On Monday, Josh Banderas worked at the MIKE spot, and Michael Rose and Trevor Roach worked on the outside. Courtney Love has been strictly working at the WILL spot this spring.
