Actually dropped a spot!!!

So in the AP poll we actually dropped a spot. The USA Today poll we went up one spot, we are ranked 21st in both polls. Oregon jumped us in the AP, Oregon played well, but not like we played a bad game. Maybe after we beat USC we can fit into the top 20 :WTH

It happens. The Huskers won't get much respect till they beat a team that is rated ahead of them, they have that chance in 11 days and another opportunity in October. Take care of business, and it will sort itself out. :restore

At least we get to talk about being rated. The last couple years, we could only sniff at the ratings and now we are in the top 25. It will take time to be in the top 5 again, so lets just take it one game at a time and the ratings will take care of themselves.

Here's food for thought: if we lose to USC, do we drop out of the Top 25?
No. It usually doesn't play out like that. We will be competing against a team ranked a lot higher than us and as long as we don't lose by 50 we will still be in the top 25 without question.

Such a cliche but, its not where you start but where you finish. Hopfully Bevo and company will beat Ohio St on Saturday so we can knock off the number one team come October.

wrong! we will drop because the huskers had the TEMERITY to defeat the Trojans.

Well if we look at it this way...we were ranked in both polls at 22 and 20. Now we are 21 and 21. FSN used the 22 ranking on tv, if anyone noticed, so the polls cancelled each other out. No big deal.

All would depend on the score... a blow out yes... a close game no, it would be possible to even move up in a close game

All we need to do is play USC HARD - and I know we will do that. Everyone expects us to lose - after all - they ARE ranked ahead of us. Also - we are playing on THEIR field - makes it even more difficult.

If we put in a QUALITY showing against USC (in other words - beat the point spread - folks, the people that set the spread ARE the experts) - we don't suffer. Of course, if we win (which...wouldn't shock me) - then - who knows.

I do think that Nebraska is capable (now, there is a tricky word!) of giving USC ALL it can handle. Good luck, USC, on defending 4 tight end sets. How about 4 running backs - fresh - coming at you.

All I am concerned about is our defensive backfield - corners and such. I would say I am concerned that we need to get more pressure on the QB - but I have no doubt that that will be resolved.

Frankly - I'll be watching the point spread - regardless if a person bets or not - a large change in the spread DOES mean something. Watch the opening line - and see how it moves. People that spend LARGE money betting - usually know something more than a VERY knowledgable football fan.

Regardless - my feelings - will Nebraska beat the spread? YES - Why? Because, honestly - at this point - if they play it loose which I think they will - this is a game they CAN win.

USC doesn't have a defense for this - and - we have shown VERY little so far.

You may, of course, agree to disagree.
