There are a few Cornhuskers that have the opportunity to play alongside Ndamukong Suh in the NFL specifically in his first year. This Husker knows trials and tribulation, but he also knows how to stay classy and make the best out of a bad situation. Just how does he view his possible days with a Man Named Suh, the NFL and Nebraska’s 2010 chances?
Brandon: We’ll get this one out of the way early: What are your thoughts on potentially playing next to fellow Husker Ndamukong Suh if he is selected #1 overall in this year’s draft?
Adam Carriker: If I have the chance to play with Suh that would be great. Having two blackshirts on the same defensive line in the pros would be awesome.
Brandon: How has your experience in the NFL differed from that at Nebraska?
Adam: Nebraska was full of ups and downs during my time there. We had a couple disappointing seasons, and we had some seasons that were really good and a lot of fun. Playing in the NFL is just a dream come true.
Brandon: What was your own personal draft experience like?
Adam: My draft experience was pretty cool. I played in the senior bowl, participated in the combine and pro day. I flew all over to a bunch of teams to visit them. Half the time I didn’t even know what city/team I was seeing that day. But there is nothing like watching the NFL draft on TV and hearing your name called.
Brandon: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Adam: No pre-game rituals.
Brandon: What has been your most memorable moment in the NFL thus far?
Adam: My most memorable moment in the NFL so far was when I got my first sack against Cleveland my rookie year.
Brandon: What are your plans and goals in the off season?
Adam: My goals for the off season are to get healthy and come back rearing to go for next year.
Brandon: Looking at Nebraska in 2010, what are your thoughts on the team?
Adam: I think Nebraska has a great chance to win the Big 12 title and make a BCS game. They should have won (the Big XII) last year and they will probably be even better this year.
Brandon: Is there any one player off the top of your head that you think is going to have a breakout year in 2010 for Nebraska?
Adam: I hoping Zac Lee. I remember Scott Frost’s first year he started in 1996. He struggled mightily and received a lot of criticism for it. Then the next year he led Nebraska to an undefeated season and a national title. Nobody remembers the season before. So Zac Lee, I’m rooting for ya buddy.
Brandon: During your tenure as a Cornhusker, who was your favorite coach?
Adam: My favorite coach would either be either Bo Pelini or John Blake. Coach Pelini was only there one year while I was there. So I’d say either him or coach Blake.
Brandon: Put yourself back in the shoes of a recruit. If you were to pitch Nebraska to a kid looking to come to the Nebraska you left, what would you tell him?
Adam: Nebraska is the greatest football program in the country. A lot of people would argue Notre Dame or Florida or whoever. But no program in the nation has the fan following combined with the winning tradition decade after decade that Nebraska has. We have hundreds of sell outs in a row and for forty straight years we never won less than nine games. That is insane. Go Big Red!
We at Husker Hype would like to thank Adam Carriker and invite you all to get some autographs by he and Carl Nicks, Jr. the day of the Spring Game at the Nebraska Bookstore!
