Alex Lewis Sentenced

Not sure if this will change his position on the team or at UNL, long term. The altercation occurred before he enrolled or joined the team, so everyone was aware of it before he came. With that said, I would think he serves his time and returns for the fall.

Of course, it also depends on when he has to start his sentence.

Lewis, who officially joined the Husker football team this winter, will be allowed to complete the spring semester at Nebraska before beginning his 45-day jail sentence, according to the Daily Camera report. Lewis, 21, was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service during a two-year probation term that he can serve while in Lincoln.

What's Colorado's status on good time there? I don't see him sitting all 45 days. I know in Douglas County if you get sentenced 30 days, you get like 7 days good time. 23 days if you're good.

This is probably the best scenario for Lewis to serve his sentence and probation will minimal interference in his academics or athletics.

He should still be playing in the spring game if the judge is letting him finish out his current semester. That means jail time in the summer

Jesus, I can't believe he has to spend his summer in jail.
He beat the sh#t out of a guy, he deserves more than what he is getting, lucky for him that he is an athlete.
Wow another sh#t comment about Lewis, imagine that. Your sources tell you anything about Bo being a done deal elsewhere lately?
This is 100% proven unlike the Bo thing, a normal sentence is at least a year for that crime. Some of you people are so f'ing blind to anything negative involving Huskers. Go f'ing assault someone tonight outside a bar and smash his head into a brick wall and see if you get the same deal.

According to the Daily Camera, a third-degree assault conviction carries a “presumptive sentencing range” of six-to-18 months in jail, but Lewis’ former CU teammate, quarterback Jordan Webb, received two years’ probation and 20 days with a work crew after he pleaded guilty to the same charge in connection with the same fight.

Sure. What bar will you be going to tonight?

Actually, IF he did what he is alleged to have done he really could have accidentally killed that kid. He is lucky he didn't. 45 days seems like an OK sentence. This is more than a simple drunken fight. He does seem contrite and supposedly is getting help for a drinking problem (although everybody says that in court). Do your time, learn your lesson, put it behind you and start at Tackle for NU.

As for your question about doing the full stretch...I don't think Boulder has the over crowding that the Denver metro does. I'd think he will sit most of it. I don't know that for sure but this will be a summer to remember for him.

Just get through it. Learn from it and move on. All the arguments about what he should or shouldn't have gotten are meaningless. Hopefully the kid learns his lesson.

My bigger issue is if he can stay in shape over the summer in jail. Is that going to have an affect on him next fall?
