An Idiot Abroad

International Man of Mystery
Anyone watch this? The concept is that Ricky Gervais and some other guy met this buffoon, and for a lark they send him around the world to experience other cultures and world wonders, and they record his misery.

I watched the intro/pilot and the first episode, where Karl goes to China to see the Great Wall. It had a few laugh-out-loud moments, which is more than I can say for most TV shows. If Karl is being Karl, he's a very sheltered, shallow person. His take on China and the Chinese is xenophobic, but not intentionally insultingly so. Just watch some clips:

yeah, I recorded last Saturday's episode just to see if I might like it. I mean...it's Ricky Gervais! lol

I actually found it quite interesting. Kind of a big prank show but without the "meanness" of something like Jack a$$. I actually know several people who remind me of him. People who are scared to go outside their own state let alone country.

You mean the people in Scotts Bluff county?

I talk to a guy from England on another forum. He says Karl is a comedian, but that he really is also that dimwitted. He knows what will make people laugh and he plays up on that, while at the same time not being all that bright. It's a weird combination, apparently.
