I'm in dire need of dental insurance, and I don't even know where to start. I tried googling, but all it brings up are those damn "discount plans" or whatever the hell they are.

you can buy direct from a provider...you just need to choose one. I have Guardian:

and used to have Aetna:

can't really say anything bad about either of them. I always just do routine cleanings. Never had to have surgery or anything.

Check with your work to see if they offer anything...or if you're a student, your school. I think some colleges offer something to help with costs.

You can also go through an insurance broker who will help you find the cheapest option of all the providers.

I go through Ameritas Group with work. Haven't had any issues but I haven't had to use it for anything but a checkup and cavities.
