Finally its out, and I can agree with these rankings to almost 100%. I am glad we don't have the leg humping MSU decisions in here. Even though MSU would have gotten 26th. Nebraska, is around where I thought we would be (16-20), and I agree. Until we can PROVE to the nation what we are capable of, we deserve this spot. To many questions and concerns to break top 15 IMO. Same argument can be said about Michigan, but somehow I think the media thinks they will have a defense? We shall see, since it wasn't really there last year, and they are even younger there. 5 teams from the B1G top 25 isn't too shabby either.

Lets move up this chart Huskers and have a historic season!!! GBR!!! 14 Days left!!!

We are ranked right behind Michigan but there is actually a decent gap between us (531 points vs. 328).

Not a very smooth bell curve, imo.

I do agree, and its sad this is how Nebraska is viewed outside the fan base. Hopefully, starting in the 2013 season, we can earn some respect and become a national problem (in a good way) again.

Questions for their offense as well.........

Will they have a solid running-back? Touissant hasn't impressed and Green is a fatty who needs to lose some weight.

These actually make some sense, unlike the SI blind dyslexic dart board method.
Agreed. SI was all over the place with the exception of Alabama and a few other obvious picks..... I was hoping UCLA would be ranked a little higher in the AP. A win against them will give us a nice bump in the polls. Also hope Wisconsin and Northwestern have good seasons up until they play us! Despite much resistance based on previous letdowns, a few drops of Koolaid have found their way into my glass. This year should be special. GBR!

UCLA might be top 20 with a win over Nevada in their opener. They have a bye week after that game and us, which doesn't help them rank up further, but I am sure there will be some drops, just hope some teams don't prove themselves and knock them out. #18 UCLA @ #16 NU?? I hope so!!!

I actually think Michigan's defense was pretty good last year. Other than their opening game meltdown against Bama, they were a pretty stout defense.

Ranked 13th overall nationally. The are 52nd in rushing defense and 5th in passing defense.

So why doubt their defense can't put it together again. They return half of that defense again and their staff seems to put the pieces together since they got to Michigan.

They were good in the pass defense, but was not good in the rush defense. If you can't stop the run, how do you expect to win games, and visa versa? Besides, its not hard to pull a top pass defense in the B1G where teams are more run heavy. This is why they got exploited when they played good teams who could throw the ball. For goodness sakes, Minnesota is ranked #12 for pass defense lol.

Chicken and egg argument again. If the B1G has more teams run oriented and better at doing so, aren't all defensive rushing statistics going to look worse?

Yeah in terms of total defense, Football Outsiders stats analysis says that Nebraska's defense was better than Michigan's last year, at least S&P. FEI has Michigan's slightly better. Either way, no juggernaut for sure

IDK, ask Michigan St who was in top 10 on both rush and pass defense, who I think had a brutal schedule. Had they had a good/decent offense, they would have most likely been facing Alabama.
