Yeah in terms of total defense, Football Outsiders stats analysis says that Nebraska's defense was better than Michigan's last year

I would have easily taken Michigan's over ours. Not taking anything away from the blood and sweat our guys poured on the field, but I believe their defense was much better than ours. I would have loved MSU's defense though with our offense

Chicken and egg argument again. If the B1G has more teams run oriented and better at doing so, aren't all defensive rushing statistics going to look worse?

IDK, ask Michigan St who was in top 10 on both rush and pass defense, who I think had a brutal schedule. Had they had a good/decent offense, they would have most likely been facing Alabama.

I was just talking defense. I would take MSU's defense in a heartbeat last year, but I think Michigan's was pretty formidable last year as well. The problem as you state is MSU's offense was pretty deplorable. I think Gardner is a good enough passer that their offense will transition pretty well.

Are they a juggernaut? No.

Is it worth being scared of playing them in the big house? Definitely.
