Recruiting will ramp up soon, but i would bet he will wait till after the NCAA tournaments. What kind of time frame do you think Miles will take to replace him?
He's supposedly a fantastic recruiter, has plenty of connections with basketball talent at all levels. I don't know if Miles would want him, he's worked for some people of questionable character. May also be looking to get into a head coaching position, he sounded like the front runner for the USD job until Craig Smith took it.Ryan miller from auburn sounds like a good choice
I love that video Miles put out. I told Craig that I heard he's a 7 handicap yesterday, lo and behold he said Miles is full of it.I think USD fan discussions focused on Ryan Miller but the administration seemed to be focused on Coach Smith. I think Smith was always the front-runner for the position and, it's a great hire for USD.
If you haven't viewed the Tim Miles video clip he posted on Smith going north to USD, do so. It's hilarious as well as highly complimentary of Coach Smith. I think it's linked to Miles's twitter account.
OWHMiles will attend the Final Four in Arlington, Texas, this weekend, in part to conduct interviews for his vacant assistant coaching position.
hmmmm..........Rumor circulating today is current Western Illinois Coach Jim Molinari will leave the Leathernecks (Summit League) and become an assistant at Nebraska. So far, looks like internet chatter but the WIU fan message board brought it up. Molinari has very firm ideas about defense...should be an interesting contrast with the faster pace exhibited by Miles's teams. Molinari is also known as a great guy and has an interesting background, not only in coaching stints but otherwise (e.g. he has a law degree). If this rumor turns about to be true, consider the odd contrast: Smith leaves Nebraska to take over Summit League USD. Molinari leaves a HC position at WIU in the Summit League, to take Smith's old position at Nebraska.
Brief mention in the OWH referencing this rumor this as well......Molinari is a class guy but there's nothing confirming the rumor right now.
That would be very interesting to see. One thing to consider though is USD's ceiling is likely a bit higher than WIU's, being a flagship school and all. WIU was in a bad place when Molinari took over, and I'm not sure he's ever going to be more successful at WIU than he was last year when they nearly won the Summit.Rumor circulating today is current Western Illinois Coach Jim Molinari will leave the Leathernecks (Summit League) and become an assistant at Nebraska.
