Callahan is in fact history.

The recruiting is in fact good and has been good these past few years.

If Nebraska gets a coach that can actually develop talent, who's to say next year won't be incredibly fun to watch? What would be everyone's expectations next year? Let's not get crazy, but at least a decent bowl (Holiday, Alamo) could be expected if the talent does indeed exist?

There's a couple of variables there...

Who's going to be your DC, and what offense are you running being the major points of contention...

I agree. I've been saying this in other threads and I'll say it again here: the star-ratings of recruits might not be perfect, but if you get a bunch of decently rated recruits, chances are that across the board you'll have a great amount of talent. Your 5-star guy might not turn into the next Heisman winner, but he'll probably be pretty good at what he does with proper training (I wonder if BC expects recruits like high-round NFL draftees... already having been well-trained by professionals). So, yeah, I don't know how the season would end up, but I'd like to think that *if* we get a good, human coach (who's good at being a coach, judge and developer of potential, and good at being a human being) then there could be a lot of good done by the next coach. The danger that we'd have with BC is that all of these great recruits, lured by the promise of an NFL coach who knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL, will have floundered and had their talent squandered and will have been observed by rival recruiters and future recruitee. It doesn't take much for someone to put together a list of highly rated recruits who didn't amount to much here and show it to a high school athlete and say, "Do you want to end up like so-and-so?" Hell, they probably won't need anyone to show them that.
