The bone I pick on these threads is that Pelini brought out the worst in a lot of "College Football's Greatest Fans", belying that self awarded title. These are the ones who are suffering the additional pain and anguish in that they can't use a 3-0 Riley record to pummel real or imagined adversaries in their scorched earth policy...and yes, I give them the needle when the chance presents itself.
Not necessarily disagreeing with the body of your post, but the red bolded above is just not true. SP did that, not one Nebraska fan was responsible for the sign in Memorial Stadium. Do many NU fans share that sentiment, sure, but then it's pretty obvious that NU fans ARE different in the way they treat opposing players and fans.
