Athlon: 10 Biggest Wild Card Teams in 2015

Saunders

Heisman Trophy Winner
NebraskaThe Big Ten's West Division appears to be wide open and Nebraska has as good a shot of winning it as anyone else in the league. Six starters are back on both sides of the ball, including star power up front in the all-important trenches. Does new head coach Mike Riley have a quarterback that fits his system on the roster and can the Huskers overcome scheduling imbalance to win the West? Definitely. Could the Big Red lose to BYU, Miami, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan State? Also yes.

On a side note, we should start seeing previews ramping up in the next week. Athlon's pre-season mag should drop in about 2-3 weeks, with Phil Steele's about 2-3 weeks after that. #cantwait

Man, I loved getting this magazines! Now, I usually might just grab one and read it at the pool while I am bagging some rays and secretly checking out the hotties.

The best would be the magazines that came out really early, they wanted to be the first, so they would have tons of old information, guys on the teams that had been booted and stuff like that.

By the way, I agree. NU could start off 4-0 and ranked in the top 15ish...or start off 2-2.

Another one I'm excited about is from Dave Bartoo at CFBMatrix. I've been reading his stuff for a couple years, and he looks at everything from a different angle than the traditional sites. It's all digital, and he does some really neat stuff.

Edit: here's an example of his preview, using the Tennessee Volunteers.

Could start 0-1 for the first time since.....?

1985 when we lost to Florida State.

we are not going to lose to BYU. I don't get the hype some of you are giving them
BYU with Taysom Hill: 4-0 ranked #18
BYU without Taysom Hill: 4-5 losing the game which he got injured in and then the next 3 games.

Not saying we are going to lose to them, but they are a real good team if they have their star QB

I'll be interested to see what Phil Steele has to say, I remember when he said we'd be entering the last game of the year in Callys first year with a bowl bid on the line because of the rough transition to the West Coast offense. Nobody else was even close to that dire a prediction but that's exactly how it turned out

Like I said, that BYU line is probably going to be -7 and I can see it being a very tough game.

I think FSU took it to us in the 80s, but I remember the Washington State game in 1977. I was just out of the Army that July, enrolled in school, living in the basement of Able hall waiting for rooms to open up. Went to the game in a somewhat "enlightened" state so to speak and was just dumbfounded at the way that game rolled out. I was so shocked I couldn't even leave the stadium. I just sat there in disbelief. I remember thinking..."Man, I go off the the Army for a couple of years and my Huskers just decided to suck!"
