Nebraska volleyball picked 2nd in Big Ten preseason poll


The Nebraska volleyball team is picked to finish 2nd in the Big Ten in 2019 according to a preseason poll from league coaches. Wisconsin is predicted to win the conference.

The 2nd ranked Huskers had three players make the preseason All-Big Ten team: Lauren Stivrins, Lexi Sun & Nicklin Hames.

NU opens the season Friday August 30 at home against Creighton.

Wisconsin will ride Rettke as far as she'll take them, and frankly she looks good enough to get them a conference championship. When she was here in Lincoln for the VNL matches, she looked like a seasoned veteran among the other Team USA players. She is dominant in the middle, and one of those players we'll have to try to work around, not stop.

Unless Haggerty is fully healthy all season I don't think Wisconsin wins this. Rettke is a monster in the middle but Duello and Loberg aren't strong enough on the pins to win the conference. 

I'd flip Wisconsin and Minnesota and give Nebraska a good shot to steal it.
