B1G Position Ranks - O Line

I've heard former linemen and people who did this stuff for years say our technique is bad and wildly inconsistent. I also had a good buddy of mine from the journalism school spend time up in Milt Tenopir's sky box for a couple games last year, and he said Tenopir regularly facepalmed himself and vocally complained about our line play from game to game.

Even us non-experts can go through and see something isn't right. Whether it's technique, missed assignments, what have you, it's been awhile since we had a good and consistent offensive line here. This is Beck's second year as OC, so I'm hoping the missed assignments will be fewer and the team will have a better understanding of what's going on. With the amount of guys and experience we have coming back, there's really no excuse to not be one of the better lines in the B1G, especially next year.
All you have to do is watch the games. I have most of last year on DVR. You CAN NOT have linemen standing around at the end of the play having never touched a defender. I don't care what kind of scheme you're running, this is wrong.

Anyone who says our line improved last year needs to qualify that statement with something like "at times" or "in some games." In some games we did just fine. In others, horrific.

It's all on film - you just have to go watch it.

We need some Ritchie Incognito fire in us! Play until you hear the whistle stop blowing, not when it starts blowing!

Well, relative to the quality of defenses we played I'd say there was some small improvement. But just as you say it's still 10,000 light years away from what we want and for decades had.

There's hope though as Bo's been recruiting the road-graders pretty seriously the last several years. We'll see.

roadgraders don't help, if they are standing around at the end of a play.....how hard is it to teach a kid to put a hat on someone....anyone!
