Reno, NV -- A disgruntled man having problems with his checking account was arrested Saturday and accused of falsely reporting a bank robbery in progress, Reno police said.

William McHaney, 57, of Reno, told police he placed the call because he thought the bank was robbing him.

Police said McHaney called 911 about 11 a.m. concerning Wells Fargo Bank inside Scolari's Food & Drug Co., 200 Lemmon Drive. However, he refused to answer any questions the dispatcher asked and hung up.

Dispatchers suspected McHaney was a bank teller and authorities from the Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

McHaney was booked into the Washoe County Jail on one count of unlawful use of an emergency phone number, police said. His bail is $1,500.
