Baseball Season starts Friday!

Since the Baseball season starts this weekend against Gonzaga in Peoria, AZ. What are everyone's predictions? Will we make it to Omaha this year? Will we win the Big Ten? How about regular season title? I think we will sweep the Big Ten and make it to the Tournament but fail to make it to Omaha. The schedule looks like this:

I tend to think we should be able to handle the B1G early on but hope we can recruit and maintain the talent level to dominate the conference for the long run. I hope our success forces the conference to up the ante and put more focus on baseball improving the talent and reputation of the B1G. Experts are not as confident as some are putting us near the top but not winning it. I really hope we can come in and show that we are superior. If not I will be dissapointed.

 
Well they signed up Columbus through 2012 before Nebraska was a member so Omaha should be in the running in the coming years.

Columbus has a pretty nice stadium also.

It's no TD and Omaha would probably double the crowds they get in Columbus, but it is far more central.

 
i know that omaha isnt central local, but what team wouldnt want to play their conference championship in the home of the CWS. i dont think it needs to be there every year and im sure the MVC has tournys there as well, but i do know that they move around their conference as well..

Especially some of those teams and kids in the B1G that will never play in omaha have a chance to.

I think we will win 6 of our conference series, get 2nd place in the Big 10, win the conference tournament and lose in a regional championship. I will be happy to go 2-1 against Gonzaga and split with Cali.

 
When I was a kid, we didn't even think about Neb having a baseball team, about the only time the program was talked about, was when the college world series was going on. That changed when we started winning in the Big-12. It would be special if the program can get back to doing that, in the B1G. At least now the kids know there is something besides waiting for the football season to start. There are a lot of top football schools that have good baseball and basketball programs. I could just not figure out why we couldn't do it. Title IX is used as an excuse a lot, but we weren't doing it before that came along anyway. I think we have started to turn the corner on this, at least I hope so.

Hacker, Again I am with you. I was jacked. The first thing that came out of my mouth when i watched that was, "how can people not be excited about husker baseball now" I liked everything about it!
