BC and play calling

anyone else think he should just give up those duties worry bout bein the HC and let someone who has an actual good view of the game call the plays?

Except for a stretch of the second quarter, I think his play-calling was actually pretty good. Keller just got hit with some bad luck on those two picks. One was tipped and the other was thrown into pretty tricky coverage. He couldn't even see the DE that picked that one.

USC is just beyond us this year, talent-wise. I don't think it's reason to act like we are hopeless. There is just always 2 or 3 teams that are head and shoulders above everybody else every single season. Sooner or later, we will be one of those teams. It's kind of like a snowball. Once you start winning, everybody wants to come play for you.

Before the game if you knew NU would put up 31 points on USC would you have been happy with that?
yea but then when i found out only 10 were on the first stringers i would be disappointed again.
Are you sure those were not first stringers in the 4th? They still had first string offense in until mid-4th.

It is troubling that the best ball movement in the second half came against prevent defense, though.

What do you suggest he do differently?????

Absolutly not, without him playcalling , we lose by 60.

Did you notice there was a defense on the other side of the ball trying to stop NU. And there awesome??

This talent excuse is getting old.

1) Who here thinks Booty is a better QB than Keller? Personally, I have never been impressed with Booty, and I think the nod goes to Keller here.

2) Who here thinks their RB corp. is any better than ours? I think it's a wash. Lucky looked just as good against Nevada running through holes that Fat Albert could have gone through with ease.

Why is it when we lose a game, everyone wants to jump on the no talent bandwagon? Did anyone see the list of recruits for NU that were at the game? There were just a couple of 4star recruits. The remaining 70-80% were 3star recruits. Who thinks USC's recruits are mostly just 3stars? IMO, last night's game had very little to do with more talent or more speed. It had more to do with who was ready for the game and who wasn't. Our LB's need to bend over and say pop to get their head our of their a$$. They've looked lost now for 2 weeks in a row.

I feel that BC just sat on his hands at the end of the second quarter. NU was passing very well against the USC defense, but he chose to run the ball. I understand not wanting to turn the ball over, but at least try to move the ball with what is working.

Like I said somewhere else here, you can't expect to pass the whole time with no turnovers.

Let me ask you this, have you ever sat in a film room and listen to him break down film??????

Before you ask, yes I have. Have you ever spoken to him face to face?? again, before you ask, yes I have.

If you have you would change your thinking. Callahan is far and away one of the best offensive cordinators/head coaches in the country.

You cannot defend pure strength and speed......as I said ask '95 Florida

Cally called a decent game. NOBODY on the OL can run block against decent defenders. Pass pro was decent.

Coz needs to go. He simply cannot adjust. It isn't lack of talent on Defense, the LB's were nowhere to be seen...and I thought this was the strength of NU's team.

NU's defense will cost them 1-2 more games. NU is a decent team this year, and still should end up in the top 25.

USC was better, to be sure. But they weren't so good as to blow NU out like that on their home field. Coz simply sucks. Poor tackling, bad angles, out of position...you can coach up guys on stuff like that.

Getting blown off the ball? Well, Cally doesn't need 10 QB's and 10 RB's...he needs more DL's and an OL that can run block. Suh was OK when he wasn't double teamed...but everyone else got beat 1 on 1. He can't do it himself.

NU still can have a good season. An upset at UT or MU is still possible...but not with Coz at the forefront. And KU has to be licking their chops.

Oh, and I've been told to be patient over and over again...but I think 4 years should be enough for a good coach to bring NU back to the top 10. I don't see it happening even in the next 2 (and that would be six).

BC never made adjustments in his play calling effectively. IF anyone here saw the defensive changes they would have realized that USC adjusted in the second quarter and dropped their LB's into zone coverage to stop the quick slants and over the middle passes. BC should have gone to Purify more on the 7-12 yrd out patterns. Those were working all night. And honestly the "REAL SCORE" was 42-10. That is when USC kept in their top defensive players and didn't play prevent. We scored 3 touchdowns when the game was over. Those don't matter or show an effective offense.

USC made adjustments on both sides of the ball, running against our defense (our lb's are awful and Dline is non existant) and they dropped their LBs and brought blitzes from the outside. Their coaches adjusted and ours NEVER do.
