Hey theres alotta talk about how our progrm is in the dumps and how we will need to rely on our tradition to pull us out. so I was thinking about who we compete with from a tradition standpoint. what schools do yous think are the best overall in college fball history??

my top 5

1) NU

2) Notre dame

3) OU

4) USC

5) FSU/Penn state

I might throw in Alabama and Miami. Miami may not have the tradition all the way back into the early years but 82 on they have been something else.

I agree about Alabama - in fact, I'd place them above FSU and Penn State. Alabama's tradition runs back past the Depression as a national power.

Funny - you have to wonder how kids today view it. Tradition to them probably only goes back to when they first became aware of college football. Most probably don't even know - much less care - about what a school has done over the course of college football history.

1. NU

2. OU

3. Bama

4. Army (no matter how much they suck, until you've been their on a football saturday, it's something to behold, not to mention, the 2nd best rivalry in college football)

5. Notre Dame

6. Michigan

I love NU, but this if we're talking about the History of college football, I can't put them #1. If it was 1965-present, I would put them number 1. But for the whole history:

1. Notre Dame

2. Oklahoma

3. Nebraska

4. Alabama

5. USC
