Best Wishes Husker Nation (long)

I don't have any cool stories about Huskers making extravagant gestures of hospitality. Perhaps because my huskerwife was with me everyone thought I'd already been taken care of

But every fan I met on campus and in the stadium was courteous and welcoming and I enjoyed chatting with them. Even when a call didn't go your way, most people expressed their passion, but not anger at the opposing team or fans (maybe just a bit at the refs now and then, naturally).

Not that every individual was a total class act, but the exceptions were so rare as to be almost unnoticeable. Just don't start selling alcohol or you'll turn into WV or something

But yes, it was an awesome experience to be in Memorial Stadium. Well worth the trip. It's clear you folks take pride in your reputation as hosts and you live up to it.

I think Nebraska has a lot to feel positive about. It doesn't look to me like you'll write-off a season due to the coaching change as often happens.

Armstrong looked more than serviceable. Wide receiver (Westerkamp?) is a baller. D-Line is for real. I wouldn't be disappointed in your run game. BYU definitely has a better run defense than pass defense. That showed both in Riley's game plan and in how the game went. The only time Riley beat us with Oregon State was when he basically went max protect the whole game.

I'm not saying I expect Nebraska to win the B10, but I do think you'll exceed expectations in this transition year, and wouldn't be too surprised if you played in the B10 championship. Your schedule lines up pretty nicely, with Wisc and MState at home. I'll certainly be rooting for you.

I know you're worried about injuries, but at this point I'd feel more optimistic if I was a Husker fan than I do as a BYU fan. Lost our nose tackle (key in our 3-4 defense) and Taysom Hill. Tanner Mangum obviously has talent, but it's not realistic to expect a true freshman to perform miracles like that every game. Was cool to witness it, but I'd happily give up that miracle, and even take the loss, if it meant Taysom didn't go down.

So while I think BYU needs to be revising down its expectations, I think Nebraska could safely notch them up a tiny bit.

Anyway, great game, awesome experience to be there, and I'll never forget it.

I think BYU does ok as a host to visitors (who aren't UofU) but we could take it up a notch by learning from you guys. I dearly hope sometime we'll have the chance to host you.

You guys played a helluva game yesterday. BYU has a lot to be proud of. Best wishes to Taysom Hill, it sucks seeing such a talented guy have to deal with injuries like that.
