Big 10 Reaction to Bo Firing

I keep hearing the pundits say "Nebraska can't go back to the 90's". That is certainly not my expectation. I just don't like to get blown out and have same mistakes over and over again. Plus, you throw in Bo's sideline demeanor, it makes it easier.

But to say we are trying to get back to the 90's I think is a little off base. I think there is a misconception out there about the expectations of Nebraska's fan base.
I really hate that too: people saying Nebraskans won't be satisfied until we get the '90s back.

The alternative to getting boat-raced at Wisconsin isn't three national titles. The alternative to losing to every ranked opponent isn't three national titles. The alternative to being third place in the Big Ten West isn't three national titles.

Sure, we'd all love to go on a run like that again. But nobody expects to go back to the 1990s. We're just sick of revisiting 2007.

I want us to field a fundamentally-sound, competitive team. I want us to beat the teams we should and compete with our peers, to put up a fight and act like we care. There's nothing extraordinary about those expectations. And we dont need to "go back to the '90s" to do it.

I wouldn't mind going back to the "90s"

I too have been frustrated reading many of the comments from B1G as well nationally on ESPN. The other thing that really yanks my chain is "nobody wants to go to Nebraska, it's cold and in the middle of nowhere. why go there when you can got to a nice sunny warm climate like Florida or UCLA". My response is always the same. A top recruit (and coaches too) want to go where they have an opportunity to win and compete for a championship. Think Tommie Frazier came to Nebraska for the weather? Hell no! The other thing is that Nebraska doesn't have to rely on a stable of 4 and 5 star recruits. We take good athletes and make them great. We open our arms to our homegrown boys and make them champions. All those things are what makes this program great. We have to get back to that mindset, people from the outside don't appreciate it, nor do they understand.

Yeah, the problem with Florida and UCLA is that the weather is nice so people do other things besides sit in college football stadiums. Besides, there are only a couple schools that even fit that bill, and most of them aren't doing so hot: Florida, Miami, USC... even Colorado with it's mountains and legal dope isn't doing well.

Then look on the other side of the coin: Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Waco, Manhatten KS, Columbus OH... those are not exactly geographically or culturally inviting locations, but their football programs are doing well.

The only thing Nebraska is lacking are dynamic, excellent coaches.
