Blackshirts will not return this season per MJ

Mickey says the Blackshirts will not be handed out again this season.  Can't say I disagree with the reasoning.  It's also been changed so much with the past coaches that it's no longer what it used to be.

“I think with this group, being a Blackshirt adds more pressure to them,” Joseph said. “And if they don’t play well, then they get a whole bunch of negative comments about the Blackshirts. We’re talking about being just a team, so we’re going to be a team right now and we’re going to let the Blackshirts sit down for a while.

Not a bad idea. What the Blackshirts represent has been somewhat lost over years.It can serve as a bit of a reset too besides their being a distraction.

couldn’t agree more. So many things are just handed out to kids these days. Turn down the noise and just focus. No more posts showing all the great stuff they haven’t quite earned yet. 
All their hard work and effort in season and off  season should be respected but let’s just focus on the damn game 

 
Why can't we just get back to a blackshirt being a starter? You make the roster as a starter and you get a black shirt. You fall down the chart one day in practice, or a game, you turn it in until you are running with the One's again.

Pretty easy and simple. That's really all it was ever meant to be. A motivation to work hard and stay at the top.

I think Mickey's sending a message. Who wants to earn their place on the field and play winning football on this team! Across the board defense, special teams, offense. Everyone.

Exactly. If this helps the team win this season, then great. But I don’t like superlatives being an excuse for letting outside noise of media/fan “negativity” impact the team psyche. That’s the result of not being mentally strong and that’s on coaching (not pinning this team’s psyche on Mickey). If it’s negativity from teammates, then ffs it’s even worse than I thought.

Cuz right now, every starter isn't deserving of one (imho).
