Bo and Beck

I am I

All-Conference
Just wondering if anyone who knows anything has heard of any frustrations that Bo has towards Beck?

I seem to recall some things he may have said recently (like during the on-field interview right after the game) about "the offense not playing real well..." Etc. also a couple weeks ago he may have said something similar.

We all know how tight lipped Bo normally is. And how secretive his program is. And how super duper loyal he is to his assistants. So I may be picking out things that I WANT to hear rather than what he's actually saying.

It's not like we don't have talent to run the offense. Even our backups are doing pretty well this year. But it's obvious they have regressed a bit since the great showing at Miami.

Any clue?

I know he made some comments after the MSU about not being pleased with the O. heard the comments today at the half about the O not playing well.

Am on the fence about Bo as HC, but he turned the ST's around ref the punt return game. DPE leads the FBS has over 500 yards. The next closets has like 300..........The D (which Bo has taken over) is markedly improved. I know personnel has a big part, but the O has talent as well and implodes.......

Great points about special teams and Defense.

By all accounts when Bo directly puts his finger on a need of the program it does seem to get better.

Thanks for clarifying when else I heard him say that about the O.

I hope they get it together for these last 4-5 games.

I actually want Bo to succeed. he coaches character and that means a lot to me. His public image has improved and he is learning to be a manager. recruiting appears to be on the rise as well. I am worried that as an inexperienced coach, he has surrounded himself with even less experienced coordinators. Not a good thing. Like Cally and Coz, Beck (IMO) might cost Bo. If there is true frustration, it might be that Bo is looking at options to improve the O and one might be letting his friend go......

It has never made sense to me that a guy who relies first on solid defense wants to run a fast paced no huddle offense? Even when up by two scores we snap the ball with 10 to 15 seconds left on the play clock in the fourth quarter.

Personally, I love Bo as our Head Coach. I think he's doing a fine job.

However, I'm not sold on Beck as our Offensive Coordinator. Mainly because I don't think he's teaching Armstrong how to be a QB. So either Bo needs to hire a QB coach or he needs to find an OC who can teach our QB's. Frankly, I'm not sure what Ganz does for us. Relay plays to the offense from the sideline? I don't know. Maybe Armstrong deserves all the blame for these turnovers tonight, but I seriously doubt it.

I've always liked Bo and wanted him to succeed. Never a fan of the Beck hire but figured he had to be an upgrade from SW. Now I'm not so sure. Both seem to have the same tendencies...head scratching calls followed by brilliant calls. No consistency.

I hope Bo makes the change. I don't think this team is going to go forward unless they find an OC that is able to utilize and taylor the offense around the run first qb or find a pass first QB that Beck wants. I mean I thought this was why we moved on from SW so we could use TM.

If we dont make it to Indy, and it's glaringly obvious the blame is on the offense, I expect a pretty good overhaul on the offensive side of the ball, from coaches to overall philosophy to completely opening up the competition AT EVERY SINGLE POSITION. It's erratic, inconsisitent, hit or miss, and is nothing more than a jack-of-all-trades, master of none crapshoot. Has been since day one in 2011. My negative thoughts on it started midseason last year when there was a total failure to adjust to the fact that we were without a 4th year starting all conference QB, and now this year, despite the good performances, it's still erratic and inconsistent. Comes and goes.

I like Bo. I really do. But Im starting to strongly believe-more and more each game-that he is selling himself so short with lack of staff. This offensive staff is now in its 4th year. 3rd if you wanna nitpick Barney's and Garrison's role. And it's not improving whatsoever.

Bc that is the toughest offense to defend.

So they say.......

I don't understand why they recruit run first qbs and then try to make a guy like tommy throw it as much as he does. TA threw it 21 times today when we had a lead the entire game that is way to much. If beck wants to throw it more recruit a pass first qb

I believe you are on the money...Bo can take over the defense and special teams because that is what he knows, but to take over the offense he will need some help. Bo knows nothing when it comes to offense. I just think it will be one Bo's hardest decisons of his career as I believe he will be forced to choose between retaining or firing a close personal friend (Beck)...it's almost like one of those dramas you see on TV

Bingo. Tommy has not improved much in the passing game. He still is stuck on a single receiver on every passing play and it drives me nuts. I paid close attention to his progressions while watching from the south stadium and its blatantly obvious where he is going. We need a QB coach who will help develop Tommy and not throw things at him that will baffle him. I am off Beck's bandwagon, without Ameer we are pedestrian and look lost. I think he is capable of making a good game plan, but more often than not its just downright confusing. Bo is fine, the guys love him and he can coach some football, Beck though has fallen off his rocker imo. Bad routes bad timing and poor progressions can't be TA's fault every time.

This for the most part. I've been very leery of Beck for a long time and felt our conference chances hinged on whether his unit performed well enough, and if we didn't make it, that the offense would be to blame.
