Bowl Matchups (possibilities)

I'm just relieved it won't be Stanford, which utterly destroyed USC and Oregon in back to back games.

Until proven otherwise, Pete Carroll is a better big game coach than Bo Pelini.

I'll take Iowa, thanks.

Suh/Crick would eat Barkley for breakfast and Burkhead/Helu would polish off the Trojan D for desert. I'm hoping for that USC matchup.

Edit: And it would give us the opportunity to take part in the demise of the Southern Cal dynasty. Who doesn't want to be a part of that?
So you think because USC had a bad year this year they are done? Lets not forgot all that they lost last year. 10 out of there 17 seniors got drafted last year.Mark Sanchez left early for the New York Jets

LB - Brian Cushing - 1st Round, Clay Matthews - 1st round, Rey Maualuga - 2nd round, Kaluka Maiava - 4th round

DT - Fili Moala - 2nd round

WR - Patrick Turner - 3rd round

DE - Kyle Moore - 4th round

PK - David Buehler - 5th round

CB - Cary Harris - 6th round

S Kevin Ellison - 6th round

Their offensive coordinator became the HC at Washington. The replacement was the Passing game Coordinator/ Wide receiver coach at USC for 2 years.

Almost 40% of the coaching staff are brand new to there position.

As of right now their recruiting class is between 5 – 10 for 2010.
I don't think they're done, but the defeats they suffered sure reminded me of ours in 2001. Stanford went into their house, did not fear them at all, and kicked the stuffing out of them. Plus, the rest of the Pac-10 seems to be on the way up. I wouldn't be surprised to see them have a few rough years.

SC has lost great players to the NFL every year. Why is that an excuse now?

They've never lost their entire defense before. The same thing happened to Florida after they won the 2006 title, and look at them now.

Anyone thinking that SC is done is on something very good.

I was at the SC/UCLA game, a coment about over 70 players visiting from over 20 states in the stands.

They get who they want, when they want them.

A minor hickup this year. I agree this is the year to catch them. Most of the talking heads made those coments early in the season. Also have had a ton of injuries. I think I counted 23 kids in jerseys walking the sidelines with street clothes on. Most in casts or on crutches.

Does tha mean they are going to be unbeatable in a year or two or three. No not at all, but they will be in the hunt until Pete Carrol leaves. They will always have the best level of talent, knocking their doors down to go there. New Weasel may hurt them a little, but doubtful.

Thinking we are back after getting beat by Iowa State and having our fair share of problems with Colorado, is husker vision at its finest.

Be happy with what we have, but no reason to disrespect others.

I wouldn't mind playing USC.

But I've always liked it better when we play teams that I've never seen us play against before (or at least remember us playing) like Clemson and Auburn.

I actually kinda wish it would be Stanford. I think that would be fun to see Gerhart vs. our D-line.

I would rather be playing USC because I want to see Barkley play and see if he is worth the hype. If we could beat one of those teams though it would rather be Oregon for recruiting purposes.

If we want USC, this is the year to get them. Barkley is only going to improve. Oregon and Stanford turned out to be pretty good this year. They mis-stepped vs. Washington but was sort of weird without Barkley and that the UW staff was old USC and knew how to play them. The one thing I would be very concerned with USC is that they do get up for big games and have proven they can beat you if time to prepare. I don't think our offense would perform that well as their defense (despite bad games this year) is still very stout.

If we get Holiday Bowl, I'd like to see us vs. Stanford...Suh vs. Gerhart. I don't think Stanford's defense can gameplan and put it all together like a USC can. I really don't think USC would have trouble with our offense. We'd need to win a defensive game vs. USC. Ohio State couldn't do it at their place earlier this year.

Somehow Stanford was able to put together a gameplan that defeated USC 55 - 21. At the LA Coliseum.

Then did the same thing the next week against Oregon. Just to prove it wasn't a fluke.

Jim Harbaugh can coach.

I would too. Rub it in my sister's boyfriend's face, if we win!

I wouldn't call it disrespect, I call it reality. Others are so quick to disrespect us because were down right now, but SC fans are even quicker to whine if you say anything negative about their program. No doubt Carroll has done an outstanding job with a program that was irrelevant for 20years, but there's one thing that I noticed in the SC-Stanford game besides the blowout. When Pete went to shake hands with Harbaugh for the first time he looked old and disheveled. The rest of the Pac-10 has finally caught up. Don't expect to have another 7yr run like the one you just had. With all the hype SC gets we still have more Nat'l Championships in the last 15 years than they do.
