Bring Back the Option!

Let’s bring back option football!

If we’re going to suck at football anyway, let’s do it the Nebraska way!

The NIL $ will go a long ways when we’re not bidding for 5 star offensive talent. We can focus our $ on a great defense and unique offense that is born in the Nebraska dirt

Maybe make it a state law or something…
I think me and @TGHusker have a guy in mind for that...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

it would most likely work if you had top talent running it. although don't see us being able to recruit the right talent for it in 2025

i'm surprised a lower level power 5 team hasn't tried building an offense around it though.

south park beat a dead horse GIF

Honest question. Do any of the service academies run it? Because if they do, and they're successful, it would be an argument in favor of making it a staple of our offense.

There are lots of old offenses that might work. Wing T, Wishbone....

I'd take an I formation with fullback and QB under center on 3rd and short. Even if the FB was a tight end or lineman.

None of it matters if they don't get a string of large nasty linemen that are better than the other defense. That seems to fix most issues.

was miami's beatdown of us the last time anyone really ran it? because that's silly if it is. the reason we lost that game had nothing to do with running the option. miami was just flat out the more talented team

About two decades worth of mediocrity and flat out stink and we are still trying to run the same stuff that everyone else is doing.

Build an actual unique identity that attracts a different skill set of players and needs to a geographically challenged location. Not competing with everyone for the same players. What is the identity of this team? How does this look any different than a Riley or Frost led team? It’s like watching the same game over and over. Literally nothing changes.
