This is actually a post from huskerpedia who goes by bigred34. This guy has talent
Twas the Thirtieth of August
Twas the Thirtieth of August; still days till game three
L.A.’s Coliseum is where I hoped to be
My red shirt hung in my travel bag with care
As I wondered, “What would it be like if I was there?”
I tossed and I turned; finally got to bed
When these gridiron visions danced in my head
Of my friend in his Cornhead and I in my cap
Preparing for the Huskers and Trojans to scrap
Then down in the tunnel, there arose such a clatter
We sprang from our seats to see what was the matter
Out onto the field they ran in a flash
Tore through the band and raced over the hash
The sun on the crest of the field of our foe
Held the luster of greatness for this epic show
The tension so thick I could cut with a knife
After wedding and kids, best day of my life
Then Congdon, a young sophomore, leg lively and quick
A touchback did send with his high hanging kick
More rapid than eagles, the Blackshirts they came
Cosgrove barked and he shouted as he called them by name
Now Corey, now Adam, now Ola, now Bradley
On Cryer, on Andre, on Grixby, and Shanle
First down at the twenty; only three downs to hold
Now dash away, smash away, knock someone cold
First play a pass, and their receivers did fly
Tierre came up big and batted it out of the sky
On Second SC chose to try it on the ground
With Moore and Octavian chasing him down
The QB on Third had nowhere to go
Was Ruud-ly introduced to our friend Bo
Three and out for the Defense as if on cue
Now our turn to show – what real West Coast can do
He was dressed red and white; wore the number thirteen
Deep outs, quick slants, could even pull off the screen
The Offensive Side he had flung on his back
He was gritty and poised, just seemed to have the knack
His eyes were like lasers, his passes spiral tight
A new Husker Hero since Alamo Bowl night
He’d have to be flawless; for this wasn’t Baylor
If anyone could do it- it was Zac Taylor
Two pitches to Lucky and a great run by Glenn
Short passed to Nunn and Swift, again and again
But then the best part – Matt Herian full speed
Scored the game's first points – poetic justice indeed
Norvell’s help play calling; Blake’s recruiting that worked
O-Line dominating; Pete Carroll was irked
He had seen better days, as everyone knows
For his old regime had gone to the pros
After the Huskers had performed a perfect game plan
A small grin grew large on Coach Callahan
More points than the Trojans, the Huskers had scored
At the end of the day – Order Restored
I awoke from sleep with much anticipation
California Dreamin’ with all of Husker Nation
I can’t wait till life mirrors my dream
I love a great game; I love the Scarlet and Cream
All I can say after that is GO BIG RED!!!!! :restore :restore :restore :restore :restore
