Callahan should takes notes

"Whatever we're doing the last couple of weeks hasn't worked very well," Spurrier said. "I'm responsible for the defense. I am the head coach. My style of coaching has really always been run the offense, hire somebody and let him do the defense. You can't run both sides of the ball. But I'm going to try to take more of an active role in watching defensive practice."

Say what you want about the man, but unlike Callahan at least he admits that:

1) That their D is bad over the past few games.

2) That it's HIS fault for it not working well.

I have as well. I guess people who listen to every bit of every interview and read every quote published before lambasting someone are in the minority. :dunno

Callahan has also said he was helping with the defense and then came the Kansas game. Then he blamed the bad defense on Ganz for the 4 int.

Then when Ganz had a good game Callahan then took most of the credit.

Yep, one standup guy there.

If everything were hunky dory and Ganz had put up all these numbers and Callahan said what he said, then yes I'd agree.

However, considering the flogging he's taken over the past month I can't really fault the guy for trying to stick up for himself. I'd get tired of all this garbage too eventually. I know for a fact that there are reporters out there asking Callahan questions HOPING that he'll eventually flip out and go ape. Yea, that'd be sweet.

Oh and 4 int's don't really help an already struggling defense. :dunno

I've always kind of liked Spurrier especially after the 95 championship (played in 96 if any pedants feel like correcting me here) when he made no excuses and admitted to being, simply, pwnd.
