Cally on hot seat

I don't see all this recruiting magic everyone is trumpeting.

Cally's first class was a last minute glue and paste job. His first true class wasn't till the following year which included players like Lucky, who were only sophs last year. It's a bit unfair to judge a kid as a soph or frosh, they need time to develop.

This season, as that first true class becomes upperclassmen, i think we'll begin seeing the effects. Next season it should really start to pay off.

Bugeater, recruiting is one piece to the puzzle. Sure it doesn't mean anything if the recruits don't pan out and we don't win games, but that's another piece. You need all the pieces to make it complete, and if you end up losing one of the pieces (bad recruiting with Solich), but then find it under the sofa, your progress on the puzzle is improved.

I believe that progress is being made, as long as progress is there, he will be here.

Recruiting the top class is important, but losing a large percentage of it is not good. He has done both.

But what he is doing and was not done by the previous program is recruiting depth. For any program to suceed they need depth. Frank had some good kids, but when one was gone, there was no one to step up to the plate, BC seems to be building that, and I think that is being seen by the powers to be.

He is in no danger of being anywhere near the hot seat. Pederson only cares about Nebraska, not what the media or the other teams fans think. We should be the same way.

If you don't see progress from the past staff, that is fine. I can understand that some only look at the wins and losses. Important but not the only thing that matters to Nebraska fans IMHO. We want a clean program, with AA's. We want respect. We want a coach that is dedicated to the program and his players, and very few real Nebraska fans care whether BC is Politcally correct all the time. Count me as one of those and I have been a fan of this program since the early 1950's.

Yeah! And, oh, you know, that whole "national championship" thing (that's what it's called right?) wouldn't be too bad either
