Apologize if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but couldn’t find it on the board……..

Has anyone ever survived a 3rd quarter with only 6 (8 if you count punt attempts) offensive snaps for negative total yards while the opponent scored twice……….

And come back from a double digit deficit with less than ½ a quarter to go…….?

And WON……??

It would be startling if that has occurred many times before.

The Cornhuskers had the No. 1 offense in the conference (489.1 ypg); the Spartans had the No. 1 defense (267.4 ypg).

The Cornhuskers shredded the Big Ten’s top rushing defense that was allowing just 91.2 yards on ground, running 40 times for 313 yards. That works out to a robust 7.8 yards per carry.

And those 313 yards were the most put on a Sparty team since 2005(maybe 07, can't remember for sure) when John L Smith was the coach.

 
My favorite stat from this game:

tOSU rushed for 204 yards on MSU as a team, the most given up by Sparty previous to this game.

Taylor Martinez had 205 yards rushing BY HIMSELF!

TM rushed for more yards than any other team against MSU.

 
MSU scored their final TD roughly 30 seconds into the 4th quarter to take a 10 point lead.

From that point on they held the ball for a total of 4 minutes 3 seconds, ran 11 plays, gained 26 yards and got no points.

Nebraska after that mark held the ball for a total of 9 minutes 31 seconds, ran 31 plays, gained 234 yards and scored 14 points.

That's just flat out 4th quarter dominance on both sides of the ball.

 
A stat that surprises me is that we are first in the conference for sacks. Also MSU's QB went 9-27 for 123 yards.

 
How bout these stats.

Ameer Abdulah currently sits at 826 yards, With 3 games to go he has a great shot at a 1000 season as a sophmore.

Taylor Martinez now has 666 yards rushing. Defending him must be hell.

What did the Huskers D allow Bell to run? 238 yards or something? Bell had 188?

Edit: HuskerNationNick ask in the post below "what did I expect"? I've been expecting that the problems that I am told are solvable will be fixed ... I'm noticing that nothing changes.

What did the Huskers D allow Bell to run? 238 yards or something? Bell had 188?

We have been poor against the rush all year, especially away, what did you expect? When Maxwell showed he wasn't afraid to go over the air, and would take advantage of the match up with SJP. When you have a few successful passes (major passes), it opens up your running game a lot.
